About The Stanneylands Hotel

Stanneylands Road runs through a quiet, leafy stretch of Wilmslow, and The Stanneylands Hotel sits back from it behind its own gardens, giving the place a settled, countryside feel despite being close to the town's transport links. It's a good base for anyone wanting Cheshire greenery without straying far from the road network.

The hotel has 52 rooms, though it's worth knowing that some have been reported as not always well kept, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly. Guests get free WiFi, drinks in the room, and access to a lift, with concierge staff and luggage storage on hand for arrivals and departures. The restaurant and bar are a genuine strong point, with a varied menu, a well-regarded breakfast, hearty Sunday roasts and afternoon tea all drawing praise, and the staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive.

There's a garden to sit out in when the weather allows, and free on-site parking makes driving over straightforward. Overall it's a place that trades on good food, helpful service and a peaceful setting rather than polish in every room.

We really enjoyed our stay at this charming, traditional hotel. It has plenty of character, with lovely period features that give it a warm and welcoming feel. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the food in the restaurant was excellent, and there was a lovely outdoor seating area to relax in. We also found the prices to be very reasonable. The only downside was that the room was extremely warm, as there is no air conditioning—just a small fan. We did discover that turning off the heated towel rail in the bathroom made a huge difference and cooled the room down significantly, so it's worth doing if you're staying here. Overall, it's a lovely hotel with great food, spacious rooms and lots of character. We'd definitely stay again.

Great location for accessing countryside. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely the best aspect of this hotel. Room was very average for price. They are a good size but were bit tired and lacked fridge and air conditioning. I stayed in summer, but the heating system looked very old. Water pressure and shower etc were all great. I suspect there is a bit of a lottery in room quality depending on tier of room and luck etc. The more expensive tiers are probably much better. Food was okay, but probably not good enough to eat here as a destination, but good enough for the convenience of eating in the hotel if you are staying here. The breakfast was well above average.

We stayed at Stanneylands for our wedding weekend, and invited a lot of friends and family to stay there too. All our guests had a wonderful stay, and the staff - bar staff, front desk, cleaners - were all so kind and facilitated everyone’s needs and requests with smiles on their faces. We were made to feel really special, which was just what we wanted on our wedding weekend! It was little touches, like reserving an area of the bar for us on the Friday evening, that really made a difference. Would absolutely stay again.
