Doward Park Camp Site

Great Doward, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6BP, UK

Secluded woodland pitches above Symonds Yat, minutes from the gorge

About Doward Park Camp Site

Doward Park sits in a peaceful, wooded pocket of the Great Doward, above Symonds Yat West and close to the gorge's main viewpoints and walking trails. It's a small, family-run site rather than a large touring park, and that scale shows in the personal welcome and the care taken over the pitches, which range from simple grass tent pitches to hard standing with electric hook-up. As well as traditional camping, the site offers roof-tent pitches, a handful of glamping bell tents and space for campervans and motorhomes.

An on-site shop and café serves locally roasted coffee alongside basics, useful given the site's slightly out-of-the-way woodland setting, and there's a small adventure playground for younger children. The location is the main draw: Symonds Yat Rock, the gorge footpaths and the Biblins suspension bridge are all within comfortable walking or cycling distance, and the site's own trails connect directly into the surrounding woodland, popular with mountain bikers as well as walkers. Dogs are welcome throughout.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Doward Park! Chris, Sarah, Steve and Misha are so friendly, kind, helpful and welcoming and the whole site is just beautiful. Calm, peaceful, secluded and surrounded by beautiful nature. The toilets, showers and washing-up room are all cleaned to a very high standard regularly. We loved that there were no cars on the field, and that our little girl was free to roam and play. She loved making friends and playing in the park and the woodland animal search was lots of fun! The park is quite new and really well thought-out with lovely equipment and lots of shade in the woodland. The site feels so safe and above all really relaxing. It is beautifully laid-out, very clean and organised and we really appreciated being able to hire a picnic table. We can’t recommend Doward Park highly enough and already can’t wait to come back! Thank you so much! ☺️

Great little campsite. We stayed here over the May bank holiday weekend, the facilities were always clean and tidy, we never had to queue and there was always hot water despite the site being full that weekend. The cafe sold delicious treats and it had a well stocked little camp shop. Perfect location for those wanting to access Biblins and the Wye bike trails.

Hit the Trail

Just back from a fantastic Easter Weekend!! Our first time staying at the Doward park Campsite which was brilliant! Fantastic check in by a member of the team, everything explained and we were shown to our pitch which was really nice, hooked up to the electric and we were set up. Toliets, showers clean and hot water, washing up facilities are also good with hot water. There are so many walks straight from the campsite its a great location to stay. We will return again for sure.

Great dog friendly campsite, near lots of walks and places of interest, such as cliffs (Seven Sisters) and Arthur's Cave. The facilities are spotless and there is a great playback and a small shop selling most of the basics. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great price too. We'll definitely be back.
