About Saracens Head Inn

The Saracens Head has stood on the east bank of the River Wye at Symonds Yat for centuries, in a position that early Wye Tour visitors would still recognise, with the gorge rising steeply behind and the water passing directly below the terrace.

Nine bed and breakfast rooms sit above the pub and restaurant, most looking out over the river, and the kitchen serves a seasonal menu alongside a well-kept range of real ales. The inn draws a strong mix of walkers, canoeists and cyclists using the gorge's trail network, and it has featured in national coverage from The Guardian to Countryfile over the years.

A small hand-ferry connects the east bank directly to Symonds Yat West, making it easy to reach the Rock viewpoint and the shops and cafés on the opposite side without a long drive round.

Had coffee and lunch here while doing the Wye river cruise. Very pleasant staff. Menu small but varied and the swordfish was delicious. It was quiet in the dining room but the pub was busy. Can't rate the rooms as we didn't stay overnight. Lovely view over the Wye.

Very nice pub by the river. Visited Saturday afternoon in the sunshine. Busy but staff coped really well and enough seats. Good selection of food and drink. Ordered 2 pints of shandy, lemonade was off, flat and not at all sweet which spoiled the drinks. I didn't go back and point this out as they were busy, but shouldn't really need to. Go, but order something else.

Really great place to visit in Symonds Yat! The server at the food counter was so helpful and gave us a map and talked to us about the walks in the area. We came back for food, the burgers were delicious, with generous portions of chips. The location is perfect and well worth a visit.

Went to pub with family after canoe trip. got here at 11.30 on a Thursday. Sat outside.. Had drinks and then ordered lunch before it got busy at 11.55am. lucky we did as by 12.30 it was filling up outside ordered 4 adult baguettes and 2 children meals. Daughter loved children's burger. We ordered my son a children's cheese sandwich but came out like a adults meal as it. Los of crust with saled with dressing sauce on. So my son Did not eat the soaked or the crust. Luckily we had a side of chips for the children Did not enquire if there was a mistake between adults and children's cheese sandwich as we just got on with it. Baguettes a little expensive but your paying for location and views. Overall satisfactory.
