What visitors say
Just stayed 2 nights at this beautiful cottage just outside Helmsley. We were welcomed by Karen and Darren on arrival and we used the Butler Service to have the tub ready for when we arrived, which was a perfect start to my partners birthday. Karen was very helpful with knowledge of local restaurants. We visited the Abbey Inn, highly recommend it was 11/10. The cottage is set in a picturesque part of the country side with direct walks from the cottage. Easy bridal way walk into Helmsley, as well a farm shop and cafe 5 mins walk away. The cottage itself is spotless and is decorated beautifully. During our stay there wasn't one thing I needed as the cottage had everything, even equipped for everything for our dog too. The Woodfire tub was immaculate and so easy to set-up, with super clear instructions for anyone to be able to do it. The tub looks over the wildflower meadow and there's so many swifts flying overhead into nests. All in all this was a very relaxing 2 night stay and we would absolutely return. Thanks Karen & Darren!

Crossing Cottage is a little piece of paradise. Our weekend here felt luxurious and relaxing. The cottage had everything we needed and more. The cottage has been renovated to an excellent standard and Karen and Darren have thought of everything, including the amazing welcome pack. The cottage, garden and hot tub overlook fields which we could sit and stare at for hours. Helmsley was a 3 minute drive or 30 (ish) min walk away. Here we found the best deli, lovely shops, pubs and a spa. We spent one day walking the beautiful Cleveland Way to Rievaulx Abbey. This took about 4 hours at a leisurely pace, with stops for lunch and a drink along the way. We’d highly recommend and would love to return again.

I was looking to do some cycling in the North York Moors, and Helmsley seemed to be the perfect location to be based for this. After some research, I came across Helmsley Meadows, so I booked a two-night stay in one of the log cabins there. Upon arrival, I was directed to cabin number one called Water’s Edge. The quality of the cabin was fantastic, sporting a fully equipped kitchen/lounge dining area. There was everything you could possibly need or want. There were even some little extra treats in the fridge. The bedroom was spacious and tastefully decorated, with an incredibly comfortable king-sized bed which had quality linen and pillows. The bathroom with shower was roomy and, again, very tastefully fitted out. There were also plenty of complimentary toiletries included. Outside the cabin, there was a decked area that could also be accessed from the patio doors located in the bedroom. The hot tub had privacy fencing surrounding it. I decided to try the hot tub after a hard day cycling. I was a little unsure at first about the wood-fired hot tub; but I need not have been, as it reached the required temperature in no time at all and remained warm for hours without adding more logs. In fact, after replacing the hot tub’s cover, it stayed hot until the following morning. Darren and Karen were the perfect hosts, making me feel immediately welcome. They both had a vast and useful knowledge of the local area, which, additionally, is stunning. Whilst talking with Darren, I discovered that he was a keen cyclist himself! He even took me on a guided tour of some of the local sights, including Byland Abbey. The weekend was just fantastic in a perfect location. Thanks to Darren and Karen; I can’t wait to visit again soon.

Another fantastic stay. Everything is always spotless and so well looked after, it genuinely feels as though you’re the first guests to have stayed there. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the sheets fresh and lovely, and the choice of pillows is a real bonus. It’s also wonderfully quiet and private, which makes it incredibly relaxing. A special mention for the shower pressure too, always a treat! Check-in is seamless, and the location is perfect, with a great pub serving outstanding food within easy walking distance in Harome. The hosts have really got everything just right.
