About Lastingham Grange

Lastingham Grange suits travellers looking for a slower pace: walkers, garden lovers, and anyone keen to swap city streets for the North Yorkshire countryside. Set in the village of Lastingham near York, it offers 12 rooms with en-suite bathrooms, room service and drinks available, making it a comfortable base for a few unhurried nights rather than a whistle-stop city break.

The restaurant is a genuine draw, with a varied lunch menu, fresh sandwiches and hot scones served in spotlessly kept dining areas. Breakfast, packed lunches and outdoor seating in the gardens round out the food offering, and the grounds themselves are spacious and well tended, a pleasant spot to sit out when the weather allows. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, and prices are considered fair for what's provided. Free WiFi, 24-hour reception, laundry service and luggage storage cover the practical side, and pets are welcome.

Outside the grounds there's plenty for those who enjoy the outdoors: walking and cycling routes nearby, golf and fishing within reach, and local pubs and restaurants for evenings out. Free on-site parking makes it easy to explore further afield in North Yorkshire and around York.

This lovely hotel was recommended to us on a recent visit to Yorkshire. We stopped with our little dog, for tea but decided on a ploughman's lunch. The staff were so welcoming . We sat in the beautiful gardens. Great service & the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend this lovely hotel, was well worth the walk up the hill!. Will be sure to visit again, when we are next in Yorkshire.

It's always a pleasure to call in at Lastingham Grange and have something to eat. The staff are very attentive and it's also dog friendly. We stayed there a while ago and the standard is as high as ever.

I booked my elderly parents afternoon tea here today. Despite them being late after getting caught in traffic (mainly sheep apparently) they received a warm and friendly welcome. They said that the gentleman who took care of them couldn't have done more to make their visit more enjoyable. The food was delicious and the place itself was beautiful and also spotlessly clean. Thank you very much to all concerned, a well deserved 5 stars!

We visited Lastingham Grange for afternoon tea this weekend, and what a delight. We were well looked-after, with staff providing ramps for the wheelchair around the traditional manor house. Afternoon tea itself was delicious. Sandwiches were impeccably fresh and well-filled, with a good assortment of flavours. Scones were hot from the oven - delicious. Cakes were also fabulous, especially the Batenberg, which had as much marzipan as cake (just as I like it). Lakes of Yorkshire Tea to wash it down. Can't fault this at all - a wonderful experience.
