We had an amazing stay. The location is perfect, far enough outside of town to not have too much noise but close enough to walk to all of the major sights. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts each morning were amazing.

Had a lovely stay at this guesthouse in York city centre. I honestly don’t understand some of the negative reviews, as our experience was excellent. The guesthouse was spotlessly clean, in a perfect city centre location, served a great breakfast, and the free onsite parking was a huge bonus. We’d definitely stay here again!

Had a great stay at St Raphael’s Guest House. The location was ideal. It’s quiet enough for a good night’s sleep but only a short walk to all the main sights. The room was clean and comfortable, the shower was great, and the breakfasts were delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A really good base for exploring the beautiful city of York.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay with friends. Having stayed here some years ago when Al and Les were hosts we were hoping that the standards were still high. Unfortunately not and disappointing. The positives.... Close to centre Free parking Clean bedding Fan in room The Negatives... Photos on reviews appear to be from old Outside the b & b planters with dead flowers. Opening the main door the door mat was filthy, not a great first impression Room small and very dated Carpet in bedroom filthy with stains Bathroom shelf had 2 strips of what looked like vinyl curling up where it was glued. On top were 2 plastic beakers!! Glasses would have been better or none at all. Bath towels had seen better days and poor quality Breakfast poor quality. Coffee not drinkable Whole place in need of upgrade Definitely not 4 stars. If you want a bed close to the main centre then this may suit. If you want quality then I would look elsewhere
