About Travelodge York Central

Ninety-three rooms across four floors make up Travelodge York Central, a straightforward budget hotel on Piccadilly, right on the edge of York's historic centre. It's the kind of location that does the heavy lifting: York Minster and the city's shops, pubs and restaurants are all within easy reach on foot, and there's plenty to explore nearby without needing a car.

Rooms are en-suite with drinks-making facilities, and accessible rooms are available, along with a lift for guests who'd rather skip the stairs. It's a no-frills setup rather than a luxury one, and some guests have found the rooms can pick up noise from the street or corridors, so light sleepers might want to factor that in. Breakfast is on offer but has had mixed feedback, so it may be worth treating it as optional rather than a highlight.

Parking isn't on site, but chargeable parking is available nearby at the Q-Park on Kent Street, with a discount code offered for pre-booking. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and pets are welcome. For anyone wanting a clean, well-placed base in York without paying city-centre prices, it does the job well.

We had a very nice 3 night stay there last week. The hotel is right in York city centre, which means that it's easy to get to the various attractions. The róom was on the second floor with everything we needed, especially an electric fan which we were very grateful for at the start of the current heatwave! What I wasn't keen on was the hotel was built with two wings going towards the river. It felt like every time you opened the curtains we were being watched and I wasn't very keen on that. The reception staff were great, very friendly and polite. There is a very small car park for Blue Badge users with four car parking spaces available. You drive in-between the Weather spoons pub and the hotel. It's easier than it looks, although larger cars may struggle. I've got a Vauxhall Corsa and we parked easily if that helps. Otherwise the is a carpark up the road guests can use. It's a nice hotel and I would stay there again definitely.

The location is great for access into town BUT the noise from the Witherspoons right outside my bedroom window was horrendous. Stayed on a Friday night and the noise went on well into the early hours of the morning. I couldn’t reach the window that had been left open but not sure it would’ve made too much of a difference.

The hotel is located really close to the centre of York, which was perfect for our needs. There is also a pub right next door which is great for breakfast. Our room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The bed needed a mattress topper as you could feel the springs and the pillows seemed cheep they were all lumpy.

Location is great for York, however we only stayed one night out of the two booked. The room was right outside weatherspoons which was loud with the window closed, then the room was too hot (heating was not on). The room was small and the bathroom needed a deeper clean and the water pressure was not great. There is no drinking water available and the tv was just a monitor on the sideboard. It was expensive for what our stay ended up being. Service was just there were people there when we checked in. I know Travelodge isn’t luxury but we sort of expected what the photos show.
