My sister booked this hotel as a special surprise for my husband and me to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. She had specifically requested a rooftop room with a river view, so when we arrived and found that it wasn’t available, she was understandably disappointed, especially after spending so much time on the phone arranging the perfect room. Thankfully, the manager, Kai, was absolutely wonderful. He took the time to listen to our concerns with genuine understanding and did everything he could to put things right. Although the original room wasn’t available, he arranged another room with a beautiful river view, and we were delighted with it. As a thoughtful gesture, he also organised a complimentary bottle of wine to be sent to our room, which made our anniversary feel even more special. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. A special thank you to Alisha on reception, who was so welcoming and helpful, and to Carl in the restaurant, whose sense of humour kept us smiling throughout our stay. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel valued and genuinely cared for. The hotel itself is beautiful, and thanks to the outstanding customer service we received, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be returning. Booked 3 nights for husband's birthday. I requested a river view but was given a rooftop view with a room that had a bath with hand held hose shower! Asked reception to change room then offered a better river view room with modern shower for £10 per night surcharge which we took. Be aware the standard rooms do not have proper showers! The beds were very comfortable with large modern TV although very slow coming on and changing channels! We did experience very heavy footsteps someone pacing up and down very heavy footed coming from the room above us which woke us up 5am and was somewhat annoying every evening whilst trying to relax watching TV. We payed for full breakfasts each morning £16 each which were very good, plentiful and wide variety of breakfast items. A nice swimming pool, modern and clean but has to be booked, half hour slots only. Good location not too far a walk to city centre and a start point for the city wall walk around the corner. All staff were polite, professional and very helpful. We ate at the hotel restaurant 2 nights which was good. We then found a lovely independent Italian restaurant in the city for the third night. Overall a very good experience, would recommend. Just be aware that the base price is the base price and you will be spending more for breakfast which are not cheap or room upgrade.

Nice clean and well appointed hotel with really nice considerate staff. We opted for the cooked english breakfast, it was nice but we thought it could have been kept warmer. The hotel is an easy stroll to all that York has to offer and it was great that the hotel has dedicated parking for guests at a reasonable extra price. It was one of those summer days that was cold and damp. But, the hotel inside temperature was kept at a nice and comfortable. All in all a pleasurable overnight stop over.

- Close to city centre, 10-15 min walk. - Felt luxurious having the pool, had to book slots but meant very little people in there so was fine with that. - beds comfy and room clean. - having parking was good as parking could have been hard elsewhere. - had room service, pizza- was good. - had good mocktail menu. - breakfast continental and cooked was positive. Would recommend and stop here again.
