We’ve now held two family parties at the Watergate Inn—my daughter’s christening and my grandad’s 81st birthday—and I honestly can’t recommend them enough. We had about 40–50 people both times, and every single guest was raving about the place. The food is INCREDIBLE. It’s all made fresh, no frozen food in sight and it was so tasty, and the value for money is just unbelievable. The staff are so lovely and attentive too; nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The venue itself is a great open-plan private space, so it felt really relaxed and gave everyone plenty of room to mingle. We were even able to play our own music and really make the space our own for the day and was a lovely way to get all of our nearest and dearest together. If you’re looking for somewhere in York to host a gathering, this is the perfect spot. Such a hidden gem. A lovely place, only a five min walk to the popular Shambles, lots of restaurants close by. The staff were extremely friendly and the room was lovely, clean and a nice view to the garden seating along the river Ouse, a nice place to sit and have your favorite tipple.

Wow I absolutely love this Pub. The Staff are so lovely attentive caring polite and chatty. The food is delicious plentiful high quality moreish fresh and vibrant. The coffee is strong bold and fresh. Dog friendly Buddy our dog was spoilt and cared for so well. Our room was comfortable homely with plush plump pillows ultra soft bedding and comfortable beds. Room had everything you needed for a great stay, power shower and amenities clean with soaps shower gels and shampoo were a great extra that were supplied, tea and coffee making supplies plentiful. TV and strong WiFi even a fan that was a godsend with heatwave. Great beer garden seating near River and inside and out if pub. Lots of choice of food and beverages. Breakfast unlike any I've ever eaten, fesh artisan bread toasted with butter, plump herby sausages , egg, garlicky herby mushrooms best I've had on a full English, beans and a tomato superb thick expertly cooked bacon and hash brown, we also enjoyed meatballs in tomato sauce with spaghetti, fish and chips chicken burger and chips and their absolutely gorgeous pizzas are delicious. Always a fantastic atmosphere parties are held there there too. But noise is always respectfully lowered and very quiet after11pm. Beautiful location and rooms are fantastically affordable for being in the heart of York. Can't recommend highly enough.

I had a wonderful experience at The Watergate Inn. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. A special thank you to Monica, who went above and beyond to make our stay truly memorable. She was professional, caring, and always willing to help with a smile. Her excellent customer service made us feel genuinely welcomed and looked after throughout our visit. I would highly recommend The Watergate Inn to anyone looking for great hospitality, excellent food, and a relaxing stay. We will definitely be back!
