About The Cock and Bull

A compact pub-hotel with just six rooms, The Cock and Bull on Ellon Road in Aberdeen feels more like a well-run local inn than a large hotel, built around its bar and restaurant rather than sprawling facilities. That scale suits guests who want a personal stay with easy access to the City of Aberdeen area, including nearby Hazelhead Park.

Rooms are simple and few, with drinks available in-room, free WiFi throughout, and free on-site parking for anyone arriving by car. Breakfast is served on site, and the restaurant is the property's clear strength, with hearty roast dinners and a well-regarded Cullen skink among the dishes guests return for, plus options for various dietary needs. Staff are consistently described as friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cosy rather than corporate, though the kitchen's standard can vary from visit to visit.

Beyond the food, the property covers practical bases well: a garden, luggage storage, laundry service, and meeting rooms for those combining business with a stay, plus it doubles as a wedding venue. Pets are welcome, and further pubs, bars and restaurants sit nearby for evenings out. It suits travellers after a small, characterful base with a solid pub kitchen at its centre.

Came here for an early Father's Day meal. Absolutely delicious. Steak pie was filled with tender beef, Monkfish scampi was filled with fish and very tasty. Service was prompt and very friendly. Can thoroughly recommend and we will be back 🙂

Booked a table today for a meal. we had our dog with us. The staff are excellent very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food was fantastic, great potions, piping hot so no complaints. I had the Cullen skink starter and the monkfish scampi as my main, this was on another level and I would recommend it. They have a menu for your dog which is a fantastic idea and one our puggle Ernie loved his beef & carrots. All in all a 3 course meal for two people + drinks and a dogs dinner I thought the prices were very reasonable/cheaper than I was expecting. If you are ever in the area book a table as I found it was worth the 45min drive over from our holiday cottage for a very enjoyable as well as a very filling meal.

We stayed here over the weekend and I can honestly say it was an amazing experience! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was spotless and have a nice character to it. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was incredible. We couldn’t wait for breakfast, which was also incredible! Amazing decor too. We were lucky to have some great weather so managed to have a walk on the beach and enjoy some gorgeous use. We definitely recommend and will definitely be coming again!

Fantastic service tonight for a Sunday dinner. Very professional staff. If you’re looking for somewhere to be reminded what great quality food and service looks like, a rarity in hospitality it seems these days. Then head to the cock snd bull. Scott Addison
