Straton Cottage

Straton Cottage is a detached house sleeping six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, set on high ground above St Cyrus with views towards the sea. The kitchen is fitted with a range cooker and dishwasher for proper cooking, while heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included. Logs for the woodburner come with the booking, along with travel cot and highchair if needed. Private parking fits three cars on site, and there's secure bike storage too.

The main living room has a vaulted ceiling and beams, with a woodburner for colder evenings and French doors opening to the garden. A second sitting room has a projector screen and a sofa bed, while the utility room contains a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Bedrooms comprise a zip-and-link super king (convertible to two singles), a kingsize, and another zip-and-link pair of singles. One bedroom and shower room are on the ground floor; the other two bedrooms and main bathroom upstairs.

The enclosed lawned garden has a BBQ, seating and furniture. A steep walk of about half a mile leads down to St Cyrus beach, a conservation area with wide sand, rock pools, and regular sightings of seals, otters, dolphins and occasional whales. Montrose Basin, home to thousands of pink-footed geese in winter and numerous wading birds year-round, lies across the bay. Montrose town itself has two golf courses, tennis and bowls clubs, and hosts Mofest music festival. Smoking is not permitted inside.
