Alford sits in the Howe of the River Don, within reach of some of Scotland's major ski centres and the year-round dry slope at Alford Ski Centre. The Grampian Transport Museum occupies the town centre with vintage vehicles and interactive displays. Walkers and cyclists use the area as a base for exploring Royal Deeside, and there is plenty to occupy a family for several days without leaving the immediate vicinity.
Elizabeth Lodge is a detached cottage one mile from the village, set out entirely on the ground floor. Two bedrooms—one double and one with twin singles—share a bathroom with shower over the bath. The living room has a woodburner and Freeview Smart TV, there is a separate dining room, and the kitchen is fitted with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine and combi microwave. Wifi, bed linen, towels and heating are included. A lawned garden with seating area and furniture sits outside; note that the garden and drive are unfenced. Private parking accommodates four cars, and there is a bike store. One well-behaved pet stays free of charge.
