This was the second time we have stayed at the hog's head and same as before we were impressed with the stay. Our room was a large comfortable place and clean and tidy and had plenty of brewing equipment as we love a brew!! The staff were all friendly and had a good sense of humour as we enjoy a good laugh at everyone's expense!! We had a lovely meal on our first night there and ate out on the second night. We had a great breakfast with a good selection of fresh cooked foods. If I had 1 critique of the hotel it would be the menu didn't 100% to our liking but we knew that before we booked so it wasn't an issue to us as we new that before we booked. I would recommend the hogs head to anyone as it's easy to locate, it's close to the local Alnwick area. We will be staying there again and it would be my recommendation to anyone. Thanks

Called in for lunch, whilst on holiday. Very welcoming staff and spotlessly clean lovely pub. Service was friendly and efficient, very knowledgeable lady taking the order, regarding a food allergy, which was reassuring. We had muscles, hot honey chicken burgers and the rainbow hummus bowl with belly pork. The food was piping hot, excellent presentation and large portions. Absolutely wonderful food, will definitely call in again when in Northumberland.

Just had an awesome meal that exceeded my expectations! The Crispy Fish Stottie was incredible—great value, perfect temperature, and outstanding quality. My Roast Ham & Cheddar Cheese Toastie was packed with delicious fillings, which made it a real treat too. The atmosphere was comfortable and clean, and the service was spot on—timely and attentive right through to a warm farewell. I can't recommend this place enough for a fantastic dining experience!

Restaurant review: Visted at lunchtime today, it was not busy. We found a warm welcoming atmosphere and staff friendly and professional. We ordered four meals, scampi, beef burger, gammon and steak and ale pie. All were tasty and well presented, unfortunately the person who had the steak and ale pie found the pastry on this occasion to be super tough and extremely difficult to actually cut, seemed to have been over reheated and dried out. The filling of the pie however was tasty and contained lots of steak. He has had this same pie on previous visits and enjoyed, so we put this down to a one off incident. Overall a great place for good quality food and very reasonable prices, in a relaxing, well decorated environment. We will definitely return. Can also highly recommend the Sunday carvery.
