About The Oaks Hotel

The Oaks Hotel suits travellers who want a comfortable, no-fuss base for exploring Alnwick without paying over the odds. It works well for castle visits, countryside walks or a golfing break, and families and pet owners are catered for too, with free on-site parking taking the hassle out of arriving by car.

Rooms are en-suite and come in family and accessible options, kept clean and reliably spacious rather than flashy. Free WiFi, drinks in the room and 24-hour reception cover the practical side, while the on-site restaurant and bar are where The Oaks Hotel earns its keep: breakfasts are hearty, and evening meals such as steak pie and a Sunday roast are a genuine highlight. Packed lunches can be arranged for days out.

Outside, there's a garden to sit in, and the surrounding area offers walking and cycling routes, fishing, watersports and a nearby golf course, plus pubs and restaurants within easy reach for evenings out. Alnwick Castle itself is close by, making this a sensible spot for anyone building a trip around it. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, which goes a long way toward the relaxed feel of a stay here.

This was our choice of lunchtime stop en route to Edinburgh and the Fringe. It was the first pub as you enter Alnwick from the A1. It displayed signage saying food available all day. So in we went, the decor is simply plain pub style fayre nothing glitzy or glamorous but functional. We ordered the soup of the day with Prawn and crab crostini. The soup was a really tasty well seasoned homemade veg soup with bread. Really very good. The crostini was certainly not the norm of small circular breads, but a good sized 6 inch piece of bread, laden with crab and prawns. Delicious. A very satisfying short visit to recharge our batteries.

Rooms were absolutely spotless .😍 The bed was lovey .😴😴😴😴 Hotel is on a roundabout just as you go into Alnwick .... But the soundproofing is really really good . The whole team were friendly and kind . They went out of there way too be helpful. They had a lovely lady waiting tables that is a credit too the establishment. The food was superb 👌 ...oh my the chips ... just like my mum used too make in the chip pan at home 🥰not those hideous frozen things . Oh and the steak pie 🥧.... absolutely amazing ... would win an award if it was entered . And the steak Dianne sauce ....Wow 😋. THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY STAY

Thoroughly enjoyed my night in this hotel near centre of Alnwick, lovely lady on reception took me to room and all the staff were so pleasant. I has a small single room which was tucked away in a quiet part and I had a big fan which was handy as a warm night, the room and shower was spotless. The beer garden was great, my Sunday roast massive and super breakfast cooked to order. Couldn't fault it and I'd definitely return if in the area, thank you.

Walkable location to everywhere in town. Nice big family room. Food looked beautiful but unfortunately didn't get to sample. Nice drinks, nice selection of beers and cider. Would definitely come back to visit Amble and Bamburgh and Warkworth. Alnwick is a lovely place. An authentic beautiful and old but very much living town.
