A 40-room hotel on Gosport Road in Alton with straightforward en-suite rooms, a pub-style bar and free on-site parking.

About The Angel Hotel

Rooms at The Angel Hotel are kept simple: en-suite bathrooms, free Wi-Fi and, where booked, family rooms with space for the whole group. It's an unfussy setup rather than a luxury one, but it covers the essentials for a night or two in Alton, and a bridal suite is available for those staying around a wedding at the hotel.

Downstairs there's a cosy restaurant and a bar serving pub classics, along with a snack bar and a garden with outdoor seating for when the weather allows. Breakfast is included, and the hotel also has meeting rooms, concierge services and luggage storage, making it as workable for a business stopover as for a leisure break. The Angel Hotel doubles as a wedding venue too, with the necessary facilities on site.

It sits on Gosport Road in Alton, Hampshire, with free on-site parking and a scattering of pubs, restaurants and eateries nearby for guests who fancy heading out. It's a straightforward base for exploring the local area rather than a destination in itself.

Our check in experience was a little bit rocky, they seemed to be a little short staffed but honestly, they made up for it then fold. They couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy once we raised our concerns. Once quickly rectified we enjoyed a nice evening, lovely atmosphere, very warm and friendly lady behind the bar. Comfortable bed teamed up with a lovely breakfast made for an overall great stay. Rooms need a little TLC but they're an independent hotel trying their best ☺️ I would recommend for a reasonably priced pit stop!

We got married at The Angel Hotel on 1st August 2026, and we genuinely couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue. From the moment we started planning to the day itself, every single member of staff went above and beyond for us. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they made us feel so cared for every step of the way. The hotel honestly feels like a second home to us now, and the staff feel like family. They are the most amazing team, and we’re so grateful for everything they did to make our day so special. We were lucky enough to get married in the beautiful Oak Garden, and it was absolutely magical. The weather was perfect, and as we said our vows, there were butterflies everywhere…it was so special & a memory we’ll treasure forever. Our dinner & reception in the Nicholson Suite was just stunning. It’s such a beautiful room anyway, but once it was all decorated it looked even more incredible. It was everything we’d dreamed of and more. We’re still on cloud nine after the wedding and honestly wish we could do it all over again. One of the best things is knowing we can keep coming back to enjoy the delicious food and catch up with the wonderful staff who made our day so unforgettable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the most incredible wedding day. We’ll always have such a special place in our hearts for The Angel Hotel, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly. ❤️

Lovely quiet location with ample car parking. Room was cool ( warm day) with windows open on arrival. Crisp white bedding and firm bed and white fluffy towels. I had a great bath with plenty hot water. Breakfast was a feast!! Self service full English and fruit, cereal, toast and pastries... Fresh coffee on the brew... Absolute joyous start to our journey home. Thanks to the ladies who looked after us at breakfast you have brilliant customer service skills. We'll definitely return when visiting family next. Fabulous price. Many thanks. Xx

Solid 4 Stars, a great value for money 🤑. I couldn't find any normal family place to stay during Easter weekend in Portsmouth. It is 30 minutes drive from Portsmouth by car, not close, but tolerable. There are fields around, so no outdoor opportunities. There's spacious parking. Family room has two single beds and one double, so great to for a family with two kids. Cleanliness is normal, walls are spotty, one cup was not fully clean. Everything functional, hot water is provided. Only the hygienic shower was leaking. Booking.com says the breakfast is superb. I would say it is standard, classic hot options, bread, jams, yoghurts, pastries. There is dinner served, good as there are no restaurants or shops around. Menu is surprisingly nice, decent options and snacks, gyros was good.
