Taynuilt is a working West Highland village with shops, a café and a golf course, set on the edge of Loch Etive country about 12 miles from Oban. Clematis Cottage occupies one end of the grounds at Bonawe House, a historic estate dating to the 1700s. The cottage is a single-storey property, recently renovated but keeping period character with wooden floors and original artwork on the walls.
Inside, everything is on the ground floor. The open-plan living space has a wood-burning stove and views toward the loch through mature beech trees. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. One bedroom has a zip-and-link super king bed (or two singles on request), and there's a walk-in shower with heated towel rail. Wi-Fi, electricity and heating are all included, and you get bed linen and towels as standard. A travel cot and highchair can be arranged if needed.
The property sleeps two and is yours alone. Outside, a sitting area opens onto shared woodland gardens with seating scattered through them; there's also a bike store and electric car charging point. The grounds include an unfenced loch, so that needs watching. Parking is for two cars on-site. No smoking inside, but pets are welcome.

Our family of four rented one of the vacation homes at Bonawe House. The furnishings in the vacation home were excellent, and there was plenty of space. The kitchen and bathroom had been renovated and were equipped with the latest technology (induction stove!). We particularly loved the beautiful gardens on the estate, including the duck pond—lots for the children to discover! The landlords, Renate and Damon, are very friendly and extremely helpful. Communication worked really well. All in all: a wonderful week's vacation in great accommodation! We'd love to come back.

We stayed for two nights in the Garden cottage. It was beautiful, comfortable and had everything you need. The bed was incredibly comfortable with the most luxurious duvet - I had amazing sleeps. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms it was the perfect set up for my family, and our friends stayed in the Rose cottage. A great location - close to Oban. The owners were very friendly and responsive hosts - with a very detailed guest information book with any detail you might need. Highly recommend the Bonawe House!

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends. Excellent location. The property was very clean and it is very spacious. Has all the amenities which one would potentially require. The hosts are very warm and welcoming. Would love to come back to this property to stay a little longer.

Beautiful old house with holiday cottages around the courtyard set in a luscious green garden. Very friendly owners and very comfortable cottages with everything you need. Can highly recommend for both long and short stays (we stayed for two weeks!).
