Dundonald Landing - Palm 3

Argyll and Bute

Oban and its surrounding coast draw visitors for the lochs, islands and wild landscape of Argyll. Dundonald Landing – Palm 3 is a detached lodge built to bring something different: a touch of the tropical to these Scottish shores. It sits just 50 metres from Loch Etive, south-facing with its own hot tub and a garden planted with palms, giving the whole place an unusual warmth and brightness against the water and hills beyond.

The lodge is ground-floor throughout. An open-plan living space runs from a wood-burning stove and seating area through to a kitchen fitted with what you need to cook proper meals – oven, hob, dishwasher, American fridge. Glass doors open onto a decked terrace with seating and a barbecue. Two bedrooms branch off: one with a king-size bed, the other with twin singles. Both have en-suite showers and heated towel rails. The hot tub is private and sits in the garden. Bed linen, towels, electricity and Wi-Fi are included; there is private parking for two cars. The lodge does not permit smoking.

The location suits anyone wanting a base for exploring the coast – you can walk straight to the water's edge – or simply somewhere to unwind in the hot tub and watch the light change across the loch. Wild swimming is possible from a pontoon on the shore.

A beautiful little a frame on the shores of loch etive, with a hot tub which if you're lucky can see harbour porpoise and otters, needs a little up dating but on the whole comfortable and warm, the owners were very friendly and attentive.

Had a perfect stay at Dundonald Landing in one of their wonderful cabins. What a great location. A quick stroll down the driveway, cross the quiet single track lane and you're on the shore of loch Etive with a private launch point. Perfect for our sea kayaking adventures. The weather was a bit blustery but we still got out on one of our favourite Scottish lochs. Our lovely hosts were on hand if we needed anything but other than that left us to enjoy our holiday. Can't recommend this enough - especially if you're keen sea kayakers. Oh and, after a tough day on the water battling the best of Scottish wild weather, the hot tub was very welcome!

Had a fantastic week at Dundonald Landing. The accommodation was spotless and very well equipped. The hot tub was fantastic for unwinding a the end of the day and the location is great for exploring. Loch Etive is absolutely stunning and i am sure we will be returning. Geoff and Lorna made us feel very welcome and the jetty is great if you have a boat or want to do some paddle boarding etc.

Excellent location right on the waters edge. Magnificent views across the loch. Very peaceful fully equipped cabin. The afternoon hot tub/spa were great. Must do. Short drive to Oban. Highly recommended.
