Hobgoblin Apartment opens directly onto a layout that makes sense for a short break: everything is on one level, with the living room and kitchen/dining space flowing into a double bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, so you can cook properly or keep things simple. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included; there's parking for two cars on site, and one well-behaved pet stays free.

Behind the apartment, a rear garden has seating and a firepit. This is a quiet hamlet on Argyll's Secret Coast, where sea lochs, forest and glens make up the landscape. Tighnabruaich is nearby, as is Portavadie Marina—a restaurant and spa complex open to visitors. The three-minute ferry from Colintraive takes you to Bute, home to Mount Stuart House and the Victorian resort of Rothesay. Walkers will find the Cowal Way and the Argyll Forest on the doorstep; Loch Fyne, Inveraray and Dunoon are all within reasonable driving distance for a day out. Smoking is not permitted inside.

What guests say

Alan Millin

Hobgoblin Apartments is an exceptional destination, ideally located to allow guests to enjoy the wealth of the surrounding Scottish countryside, lochs, castles, islands, and Argyll’s Secret Coast trail. Whether you like to explore on foot, by bicycle, or car, Hobgoblin at Glendaruel is the place to be. Hosts Lynette and Angus work tirelessly to ensure guests enjoy their time here. The Prince, a wonderful boat with more than a century of rich history, sets a new standard for unique accommodation with a splash of luxury and style. Added to this is the fact that you can also enjoy a ‘wee dram’ on the outside decking, without fear of falling into any water afterwards. The Prince is exceptionally well appointed and presented; it’s comfortable, quirky, and represents great value. As there is only one ‘Prince’, I recommend booking early…
