Couples after something genuinely different will find The Prince offers exactly that—a beautifully restored wooden boat now permanently sited in Colintraive, on Argyll's quieter coastline. The entire property is yours alone, with everything on one level: an open-plan living and dining space, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, a bedroom with a king bed, and a bathroom with shower. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and reliable Wi-Fi are all covered. One small dog can stay free. There's private parking for two cars and a front garden with a firepit.
The location opens onto genuine exploring territory. A three-minute ferry from Colintraive reaches the Isle of Bute and Rothesay's Victorian seafront. The Cowal Way long-distance walk starts nearby at Portavadie, which also has a marina restaurant and spa. Tighnabruaich sits across the loch with views to the Kyles. Inland, the Argyll Forest branches into marked trails, cycleways and waterfalls. Dunoon is within reach for shops and cinema; Loch Fyne and Inveraray make straightforward day trips. The nearest beach is ten miles away. No smoking indoors.

What guests say
Hobgoblin Apartments is an exceptional destination, ideally located to allow guests to enjoy the wealth of the surrounding Scottish countryside, lochs, castles, islands, and Argyll’s Secret Coast trail. Whether you like to explore on foot, by bicycle, or car, Hobgoblin at Glendaruel is the place to be. Hosts Lynette and Angus work tirelessly to ensure guests enjoy their time here. The Prince, a wonderful boat with more than a century of rich history, sets a new standard for unique accommodation with a splash of luxury and style. Added to this is the fact that you can also enjoy a ‘wee dram’ on the outside decking, without fear of falling into any water afterwards. The Prince is exceptionally well appointed and presented; it’s comfortable, quirky, and represents great value. As there is only one ‘Prince’, I recommend booking early…
