About Highland Shepherd Huts
Tucked into 16 acres of woodland on the northern edge of Cairngorms National Park, Highland Shepherd Huts offers a proper escape without sacrificing comfort. Each modern hut comes with its own bathroom, kitchen corner and woodburning stove, plus a deck where red squirrels, pine martens and deer regularly appear – wildlife watching doesn't get much easier than this.
The location, a five-minute drive from Nethy Bridge village, puts you within striking distance of serious Highland adventures. The long-distance Speyside Way runs nearby for gentle riverside rambles to Grantown-on-Spey or Boat of Garten, while Cairngorm Mountain (half an hour away) beckons more ambitious walkers. Closer to home, you can fish the Nethy and Spey rivers, hire bikes on site, or simply lose yourself in the forest. With watersports on Loch Morlich, golf at Boat of Garten and climbing routes galore, the only real challenge is deciding what to tackle first.

We had a very peaceful 4 nights stay in Alba. View was beautiful and the hut was super comfy and had everything we needed! Zoe and Nic were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved the little honesty shop they have. We would book again in a heartbeat.

Another fantastic visit to the shepherds huts. Have stayed in Bothan a few times with my family and it's just wonderful. Always made to feel really welcome, the hut has everything you could need and the location is perfect. Look forward to our next visit.

Have stayed in Alma for two years in a row now for a solo hiking trip and this is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. The hut is absolutely perfect with lovely little touches (like a hot water bottle) and has everything I could need. The views are spectacular with the huts having that remote feel but still retaining home comforts. Nick and Zoe are phenomenal hosts and it honestly feels more like staying with friends now. They’re always going the extra mile to make my stay fantastic and have great local knowledge! I will certainly be coming back and can’t recommend the huts enough

We really really really enjoyed it here, absolutely gutted we had to leave. The hut was so nice, the views spectacular, lovely shop, site was clean and tidy. Local area is stunning, definitely worth bringing bikes if you can as there’s miles of trails very close by.
