About Pen Y Bont Touring and Camping Park
This family-run park occupies an enviable position just a two-minute walk from the shore of Llyn Tegid and ten minutes on foot from Bala's High Street – ideal if you fancy an evening pint without moving the car. The five-star Visit Wales grading reflects well-maintained facilities including a modern shower block with underfloor heating and complimentary toiletries, a welcome luxury on crisp Welsh mornings. Pitches range from standard electric grass to fully serviced hardstanding for larger outfits, while glamping options span shepherd's huts, bell tents and the distinctive Prospector-style castle tents.
Fire pits encourage outdoor cooking and there's a dedicated dog-walking field, though the site keeps amenities deliberately simple – no pool or playground here, with the emphasis firmly on the lake and hills beyond. Wi-Fi is available to purchase rather than included, which may disappoint some. The ACSI certification and consistently high ratings suggest a smoothly run operation that suits both seasoned tourers and first-timers exploring Snowdonia's watersports and walking trails.

What visitors say
We had the pleasure of staying on this site for 1 night. Straight from arrival we felt extremely welcome and were checked in quickly and efficiently. We had all the amenities pointed out to us and shown the WiFi details should we wish to use it. The site is very well kept and the facilities are exceptionally clean. The showers were hot, clean and had more than enough space to dry off and get dressed. The location of the site is perfect for an evening stroll along the banks of the lake into Bala village for a cheeky pint or 2. We would not hesitate in recommending this site.👍 We hope too be back some time in the not to distant future!😁

We just had a perfect 5-star stay at Pen y Bont in Bala with our tent. We were on a standalone pitch which offered incredible, stunning views all around the site. The facilities are modern and were kept spotlessly clean throughout our visit. The staff were so helpful and even gave us a folder of local walks to look at, which was a lovely touch for exploring the area. It's a peaceful, beautifully maintained site in a fantastic location near the lake. We will definitely be back!"

We stayed for 2 nights in late April and had a wonderful time. We hadn't pre-booked, but did call before arriving to ensure a pitch was available for our motorhome. The staff member I spoke to was polite and very friendly and, we later met her (owner, whose name I cannot remember, sorry!) when we arrived for our stay. Again, the lady was polite and friendly while remaining professional. Our pitch was fully serviced and flat, ideal for our long motorhome. The site is well equipped with everything you could wish for. The facilities are clean, modern and well maintained. The reception area has a well stocked shop and also sell gas, which we purchased while there and, at a very competitive price. The site is across the bridge from the lake. On the opposite side of the bridge is a walk along the river into the top end of Bala's main shopping road; a great quiet walk. This is a great site and personally, we believe priced right for what you have. We did look at another site further down the lake and after weighing up cost of transport into the town, plus having to pay for certain facilities on site that are inclusive within Pen Y Bont, the difference was marginally different. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will be back, but next time for longer. Gareth.
