What diners say
The Jugged Hare is pure magic. Everything is so unbelievably delicious that there's simply not enough room in your stomach to try everything on the menu. That's why you'll almost certainly end up coming back again and again... just like we did. They specialize in game, using whatever is in season. You can even see what's currently being hunted on the coasters in the pub or check their website before your visit. And here's something really special: they have a different menu every single day! You can either check it on their website each morning or leave it as a surprise until dinner. The atmosphere is fantastic—dark wood interiors, hunting décor, and taxidermy throughout. There's even a large private dining room downstairs, also decorated in the same traditional style. It's probably not the place for the faint-hearted or passionate animal lovers, but if you appreciate exceptional food, the cuisine is simply outstanding. Dining here feels like a true gastronomic adventure.

This pub restaurant is just three minutes away from where I live, but I have never visited it for meals. I didn’t realise it was such popular on Sunday and learned that it was fully booked for lunch in the dining hall. However, I was told to order the food at the bar counter and have the food over there. I ordered their Sunday Roast and a pint of stout. The roast beef dish was nicely presented. The beef was not the thick cut type which was not my personal liking, but it tasted fine. I will try to book a table at the dining hall in advance next time to have a more complete dining experience.

We had our first Sunday roast at The Jagged Hare and it turned out to be such a memorable experience for all 6 of us. We went all in — starters, the full roast platter, and desserts — and the portions were seriously generous. Definitely come hungry. What really stood out was the meat selection on the roast platter. The variety alone already impressed us — beef sirloin, lamb, and rotisserie chicken — but it was the way each was cooked that made it truly satisfying. The beef was beautifully tender and juicy, the lamb was rich and flavourful without being too heavy, and the chicken was perfectly roasted with a nice balance of crispy skin and moist meat. Every cut felt well-executed, not just thrown together for volume. Paired with classics like Yorkshire puddings, crispy duck fat roast potatoes, and that rich, comforting gravy, it just came together so well. One of those meals where you keep going back for “just one more bite.” We also loved that we could take our time, share everything, and really enjoy the moment together. It wasn’t rushed, which made the whole experience even better. Special shoutout to Heman, our waiter that day — super friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the meal. Service like that really elevates everything. All in all, a fantastic first visit for us. Great food, great company, great service — we’ll definitely be back again, when we're back to London in future

Popped in for a late lunch last week. We'd eaten here before but only bar snacks. Best triple cooked chips ever! So wanted to give the main menu a go as their menus are intriguing. Seasonal game it seems mainly, sadly we missed pie week. A very nice looking restaurant was empty when we arrived, well we were late. To start, crab on toast and venison tartare, both utterly delicious. Mains were goat belly, how often do you see that, and jugged hare. The hare served In a very rich sauce with vegetables was terrific, served with a creamy mash, had to ask for more. The goat, hmm, not bad, interesting to taste some that's not been curried. Very delicate flavour. Dessert from memory was a blood orange sponge, Madeline type, with rhubarb and crème fraîche. Washed down with a fresh light gruner veltliner, cherry mead and a home made orangecello. Superbly attended to by Daniela and another person whose name I sadly forgot to ask, apologies. A slightly hidden gem. Will definitely return.
