About Travelodge London Central City Road

Travelodge London Central City Road is a seven-floor budget hotel built for practicality rather than grandeur, with 99 rooms arranged over its compact footprint on City Road near Moorgate. Rooms are on the small side and the amenities are kept basic, but each comes with an en-suite bathroom, and beds and housekeeping standards are consistently well kept. A lift serves all floors, and accessible rooms are available for those who need them.

Downstairs there's a bar and restaurant on site, along with breakfast each morning, which is generally rated as one of the better parts of the stay. Reception runs around the clock, drinks can be ordered to the room, and pets are welcome. Parking isn't available on site, but chargeable parking can be found two minutes' walk away at NCP Finsbury Square.

The location puts St Paul's Cathedral and the West End within easy reach, and the surrounding streets have plenty of pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evenings out. It's a hotel built around function and location rather than frills, suited to those who want a clean, no-nonsense base in central London.

No air conditioning. Room is like a furnace. Property needs a renewal. Caution tape on the elevator floor. Stains on the furniture. There are no phones in the room. They just give you an outside number to call if you need assistance. There is never anybody that will answer it.

Great value-for-money hotel! The rooms were very big and were cleaned well. The staff was very polite, and the breakfast was great. The room had good amenities like a water boiler, an ironing board, extra pillows/blankets and a fan. It was possible to open the window for fresh air. Breakfast was also very nice. They had a great selection of English Breakfast and they also had veggie sausages upon request. We were at the hotel during the finals of the soccer world cup. Closing the windows did a great job in isolating noise from outside. The biggest downside was that the room could get very hot despite not being that hot outside. But for the amount I paid for my stay, I definitely can't complain.

I was booked in for 3 nights - left after 2!! 3 rooms in 2 nights due to issues! Room 1 - 6th floor - Nothing special or worth paying for Super Room. Room small, no air circulation, small tower fan, noisy and was not effective to cool Room. Room was unbeatable! Asked to move. Room 2 - Night 1 - Standard for Super Room no better, Slightly bigger Room, still in effective Tower fan. Bathroom had a awful drain/sewer smell. Reported drain smell, advised maintenance will come out in morning. Stained towels. Bad nights sleep, due to noise of fan but had to have fan on as no air and heat. Night 2 - Returned after work, to bathroom still having drain/sewer smell. Even worse! Called reception advised would move me to another room. Room 3 - Super Room - Small, poor standard, no air, rubbish noisy fan! I give in!! Booked out of hotel after 2 nights, could not stay for 3rd night! Never again!!

I have absolutely no complaints about my stay at this hotel. It is located very close to Liverpool Street Station (a 10-minute walk), which was important to me since we flew into Stansted Airport and used the Stansted Express to get to London. We stayed in family room 414 on the fourth floor, and the room was more than tidy. There was no noise inside the hotel, and no street noise could be heard either, even though the street is quite busy.According to the receptionist's instructions during check-in, if we needed cleaning or refills in the room, we just had to place the corresponding sign on the door, and it would be done.We did not use the breakfast and dinner service, primarily because we do not prefer that type of breakfast (we tried it 10 years ago and regretted it), and also due to the relatively high price.Instead, we visited the nearby Aldi grocery store for breakfast. The hotel is in an excellent location because there is a bus stop right in front of the entrance (Epworth Street (Stop E)).Additionally, Old Street underground station is just a five-minute walk to the north, and Moorgate station is five minutes to the south. If we come to London again and fly into Stansted Airport, we will almost certainly choose this hotel for our stay.
