We had a fab weekend camping at Tomkins Farm. The facilities are pretty simple, but the toilets were clean, the showers were warm and the camping pitches were a good size. We loved the novelty of having a camel and alpacas there, and we also thought the catering tent was fab. The availability of bacon rolls and fresh coffee saved us when our campingaz ran out one morning! Highly recommend, particularly with kids.

Could not rate this place high enough. Incredibly polite and helpful guys on site, beautiful views, well kept facilities, and large plots. The fire pits are a fantastic idea that other campsites could learn from! We came with a campervan and some friends who had tents, had a great corner set up with more than enough room. We'll definitely be back!

Mixed Experience – Lovely Concept but Let Down by Cleanliness and Noise I really wanted to leave a better review, as I love the concept of this campsite. I visited last year and had a great experience, so decided to return for a two-night stay last weekend. There are definitely positives: I really appreciate that each pitch includes a campfire, and it’s great that you can purchase logs on-site. The showers are also lovely – being outside gives them a really nice rustic charm. However, the toilets were disappointing this time around. They were quite dirty, with cobwebs and dirt on the floor. While I understand it’s a farm site and bugs are to be expected, that doesn’t excuse a lack of cleaning. From the look of it (and as you can see in the pictures), they hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. It would also be helpful to have more water points, particularly down by the river. Another point to mention is the cost. At £38 per night, even with the campfire included, I don’t think the price reflects the overall quality – especially given the issues with cleanliness and noise. The staff, to their credit, were absolutely lovely – really friendly and helpful – so I can’t fault them at all. But my review is based on the overall experience. Unfortunately, another big downside was the noise. Despite receiving a clause in the welcome email stating that children should be back on pitches by 8pm and that noise after 10pm should be kept to a minimum, this wasn’t enforced. Children were running around with walkie talkies and shouting until well past 10:30pm, and the noise carried across the whole campsite. It really impacted the peaceful, relaxing environment that’s promised. I still think this campsite has a lot of potential, and I would go again – but I wanted to share my experience honestly, as these things should be visible for others considering a visit. I haven’t seen anyone else mention these issues, so hopefully this gives a fuller picture.
