This stone cottage sits on a working hill farm on the eastern edge of the Peak District, 1,250 feet above sea level and overlooking Windleden Reservoir. The building has original beams and a wood burner that runs on unlimited logs, which along with the oil central heating keeps things warm. Two bedrooms, each with a double bed and its own ensuite bathroom (one with a bath and shower, one with a walk-in shower), occupy the first floor. Downstairs is an open-plan living space with a wood burner and smart TV, a separate kitchen with electric oven and hob, dishwasher and washing machine, and a toilet.
The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering. WiFi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. You have private parking for two cars and access to a patio. The property accepts one well-behaved pet. There is a fenced reservoir 20 yards from the cottage, and water comes from a borehole rather than mains supply.
Walking and cycling trails start from the gate—bridleways cross Thurstone Moor, and the Trans Pennine Trail is nearby. Winscar Reservoir, a short distance away, has gentler walking routes. Holmfirth, a market town, lies four miles down the road. The setting is remote and quiet, surrounded by moorland and grazing sheep, though the fenced reservoir and natural water supply are practical matters to know about before booking.
