Where do I start with this one...how is has 4 out of 5 stars I will never understand. No kerb appeal..dead flowers in pots outside..you can tell its run down. Keys were left on table as we entered the corridor...distinct odour of chip fat. We were 2 female friends staying here..we had actually upgraded the room for £33 extra ..only to be phoned a few days before and told they had overbooked and now we had to have a different room. This was on first floor with a private separate bathroom. Not ideal. The room itself had 2 single beds..tv..cupboard with a small fridge..which still contained the last residents yoghurt inside...its probably still there. The carpet was unhoovered...pair of plastic gloves under table along with tissues. The upright fan was covered in dust. These standards are extremely low. Filthy really. Breakfast was adequate. Location was good as in we could walk to the beach and sea front. We parked around the corner so not to get a parking ticket. The website states daily room cleaning which did not happen..as we had to contact the owner for toilet roll..fresh towels and the room bin to be emptied. Not unreasonable..as these are standard in most places. The room was not cleaned for the three days we stayed despite speaking to the cleaner and asking for it to be done. They put fresh towels on the beds...left the door open and unlocked. We were out all day ...good job we didnt leave valubles there. The tea tray had 2 teabags and 2 milk when we arrived and was never restocked...there is a shop 2 doors down where we had to buy our own. The website offers a laundry which i did request but that is also unavailable...but the owner did kindly offer a wash. Overall...gails is suitable for one night stay...i would not reccomend anymore than that. IT needs a full refurb and staff training to bring it up to anykind of standard. We would not stay again.

Lovely people but let down with the poor conditions The photos on booking.com quite clearly didn't reflect what we we're led to believe we was getting a lovely room....it sure wasn't! Firstly upon arriving you get a sudden smell of what smelt like a Dog sanctuary we didn't see any animals at this point!! In our room walls heavy marked, massive pile of dust behind the bed, wardrobe falling apart, into the ensuite the shower floor was black mould the shower was dripping nonstop The Lamp in our toom wasn't working unless you wiggled the cable! Ceiling light literally falling apart Breakfast was served which looked like a old style cafe! Full view of kitchen and dining area in one room a front door with tables outside!! Very run down in a rough part of Barry in Wales. We wouldn't of stayed but we had a very long drive back in scorching temperatures on bank holiday Will not recommend staying to be honest

We were in the family room, it was spacious and comfortable, it was very clean. The hotel is no more than a 5 minute walk from the pleasure. Highly recommend
