About Premier Inn Barry Island Cardiff Airport

Premier Inn Barry Island Cardiff Airport is a purpose-built, low-rise hotel spread over three floors, with 80 en-suite rooms designed along the chain's familiar modern lines. Rooms come with air conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, and free WiFi, and there's a lift for those who'd rather skip the stairs. Accessible rooms are available, and the building includes a restaurant and bar under one roof.

Breakfast is served on site and has a good reputation among guests for both quality and value, while the in-house restaurant covers evening meals without needing to leave the building. Practical extras include 24 hour reception, luggage storage, an electric vehicle charge point, and free on-site parking at the rear of the hotel - handy given its position near Cardiff Airport. Staff are generally friendly and helpful, though a handful of visitors have found service inconsistent at times.

The location on Barry's Triangle Site puts the sandy stretches of Barry Island within easy reach, alongside nearby pubs, restaurants, and watersports. Fishing spots and local entertainment are also close by, making it a straightforward base for exploring the Vale of Glamorgan coast or catching an early flight.

We stayed here for our final night after nearly three weeks of traveling through Europe, and switching to the Premier Inn Barry was one of the best decisions we made on the entire trip. We were absolutely exhausted, and the room was wonderfully cool, dark, quiet, and comfortable (air conditioning was the main draw). We slept incredibly well and woke up feeling genuinely restored before our flight home. The breakfast was also excellent—plenty of choices, good food, and exactly what we needed before a long travel day. The hotel was comfortable, convenient for Cardiff Airport, and a perfect final stop for our trip. Would absolutely stay here again, especially before or after a flight from Cardiff Airport. Thank you for giving us such a restful final night in Wales!

A bittersweet visit. The hotel is well located and clean. However, when we arrived, we were told our room was not ready. We were kindly upgraded to another room, which was a nice gesture. Unfortunately, the new room had an issue with a fan that switched on as soon as the key card was inserted. This appeared to be the bathroom extractor fan, and it did not turn off—even though the bathroom had not been used. At first, we thought it was the air conditioning, but we asked for that to be turned off and the noise continued. When we returned later that day and inserted the key card again, the extractor fan started up once more. This created a constant background noise. We tried turning the bathroom light on and off, but it made no difference. It seemed clear there was a wiring issue, as the fan should only operate when the bathroom is in use. We spoke to the receptionist, who suggested the noise was due to wind coming through the vents. However, we explained that the constant noise would make it difficult to sleep. We were told that no one else had complained and that there were no alternative rooms available. We were advised we could remove the key card to stop the noise, but this would also mean no power or lighting, which is not practical during the night. We had booked an accessible room. Fortunately, the manager we spoke to later was very helpful. He came to the room, acknowledged the issue, and explained maintenance would not be available until morning. He offered us a room change, which we accepted. The new room was much better—the electrics worked properly, and the bathroom fan only operated when the light was switched on. However, I was disappointed that on the second day of our stay, the bin was not emptied and the room was not tidied. Overall, I think the manager is doing a good job, but some staff training is needed. It feels like a work in progress, and hopefully things will improve. The location is excellent.l

Staff are so friendly here. I had a cold while staying and asked for an extra pillow. Got back after a day out to some raspberry and camomile tea, chocolate and a note from Vicky hoping I feel better soon. Best service I have received at a Premier Inn. Such lovely team.

The rooms are as you expect from a premier but we have not seen a member of staff in the two days we have spent here so far - hence the 3 stars on service (I was trying to be fair). Even the arrival was handled by a machine. Rooms are clean and quiet and the cost certainly is value for money. Will staying again as it is convenient for our needs.
