About Lansdown Grove Hotel
Lansdown Road climbs above Bath on the city's northern slopes, and it's here, with the surrounding hills for a backdrop, that Lansdown Grove Hotel sits back from the street behind its own garden. The elevated position gives many of the 61 rooms good views out over the town, while the walk down into the centre is easy enough for exploring the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey without needing a car.
Rooms are en-suite and come in family and accessible options, with drinks and room service available for those who'd rather not go out. A lift serves all floors, and the garden and outdoor seating area give a quiet spot to sit when the weather allows. Breakfast is varied and generously served, and the restaurant and bar cover meals and drinks on site, with kids' meals catered for too.
Staff are consistently helpful, and practical extras such as concierge assistance, laundry service, luggage storage and free WiFi are all on hand. Free on-site parking is provided, though some guests have found the charges for it steeper than expected elsewhere in Bath. A golf course, pubs, and restaurants can be found nearby for those wanting to venture a little further afield.
What guests say
Very nice stay. The room was nice, clean, and spacious. Bed was comfy and the shower was always warm. Amenities provided are also handy. Would maybe just grab another bottle of water for the room if you are staying for 2+ nights. Easy to find and easy access. Great location as you can just walk down the main road straight into central Bath. Doesn't take long. My only gripe is the car park being a bit small. Obviously if you don't intent on leaving your car there during the day then it's no issue at all. Adjacent streets also provide free parking overnight. Service was good. They didn't have to do much arguably but that's a sign of a good and well prepared approach to guests. Overall great stay, will stay here again when/if we return to Bath.

Rooms good. Our room had table and chairs on the patio outside the french windows. Quiet hotel. Service good. Some car parking available for guests. Would have given 5 stars but lacked air conditioning, although a small electric fan was available to plug in. Would stay again because of the location.

I give this 4* hotel a 4* review. Staff universally friendly and helpful. Location is central but it is on the top a a steep hill. My wife and I like to walk so no problem, but be aware. A regular bus to and from the centre is available - Number 31. The building is impressive with high ceilings, candelabras etc nicely redecorated but because of its age plumbing and floorboards etc can be creaky. There were a lot of options for breakfast plus a big buffet bar. If you get a space, overnight parking is £15. I did get a space and didn't mind paying for the convenience. All worked well for our stay in Bath.

The room was quite old, but the worst part was the noise. You could hear absolutely everything from the room above — footsteps, creaking wooden floors, people showering, talking, and even people walking past the room. There was almost no soundproofing or privacy at all. The cleanliness was also disappointing, especially the carpet which had many stains and looked very dirty and there were still pieces of rubbish still on floor from previous guest. The bathroom water pressure was weak and the drainage was very slow. It got flooded every time when shower. Even the kettle still had water left inside when we arrived. Another major issue was the access to the room. It was involved stairs everywhere. Our room was tucked away in a corner and required going up and down several flights of stairs, which would be extremely inconvenient for anyone with large luggage, elderly guests, or disabled people. The pillows were also very flat. We were given two pillows each, but every single one was completely flat and uncomfortable. And honestly, the worst part was the parking fee — £15 per night is far too expensive, especially for hotel guests already staying at the property.
