About The Boathouse
The Boathouse takes its name seriously: rooms and restaurant sit right along the river on Newbridge Road, with views over the water forming the backdrop to breakfast and dinner alike. It's an easy base for exploring Bath, close enough to the city's historic core while keeping a quieter, waterside feel.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and guests consistently find them comfortable and well kept. The restaurant and bar are a genuine draw, serving hearty meals and desserts that get particular praise, with kids' meals available for families. There's a garden, picnic area and outdoor seating for making the most of the setting, plus a lift, accessible rooms, 24 hour reception and free WiFi throughout. Staff are friendly and attentive, though service can slow down at busier times.
Free on-site parking makes arriving straightforward, and the surrounding area has plenty to fill a stay, with a golf course, pubs, restaurants and entertainment all nearby. Luggage storage is available for those making the most of a day out before checking in or after checking out.

What guests say
Excellent pub stop just off Bristol Bath cycle path. Big venue with very nice interior. Lovely outdoor seating overlooking river. Helpful and polite staff. Good expensive but location and atmosphere almost mitigate cost.

Over 3 and a half hours wait for dinner... we visited The Boathouse last night as a family group of 10 for a birthday celebration. The biggest positives are the location and setting, it’s in a fantastic spot by the river with plenty of seating options inside and outside, which made it a lovely place for a celebration. The staff we spoke to were polite and pleasant throughout. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing... the service lacked attentiveness from the start, after being seated, we waited a long time with no one coming to take drinks orders, eventually we ordered through the app. We also asked for some glasses, but eventually we had to go and get them ourselves. We then asked several members of staff before someone came to take our food order... over half of our first-choice menu items were unavailable, which was frustrating for a table of 10. The food then took around an hour to arrive! Considering the prices, the quality was well below expectations, some meals were cold, others seemed like they had been sitting under heat lamps for too long. Everyone ate because by then we were too hungry to do anything else, it wasn’t an enjoyable meal. In total we were there for over three and a half hours. With such a brilliant location and friendly staff, this place has a lot of potential, but our experience was that the service organisation and food quality need significant improvement.

This is a review about the restaurant only as we did not stay. Fantastic river views from the terrace , warm and lovely staff, great food and very good cocktails and spritzers. The terrine and flat iron harrissa chicken are highly recommended. Wonderful setting to enjoy the recent heatwave

Went to the boathouse whilst visiting bath . The pub is nice in a lovely location. Reason for 3 stars Went there for a meal with my parents and brother and sort of wish we didn't 🙁 everything we ordered they didn't have so had to have food we didn't really want . When the food came out it looked nice but was only " ok" , so for the food being only "ok" it was a bit pricey. The girl taking our order was nice and helpful and she did apologise a few times for not having stuff on the menu . I would go there for a drink but not for something to eat
