What diners say
I wanted to visit this place since a long time, as my reliable Italian friend from Roma swears they do one of the best maritozzo that he has ever tasted. I live very far from their east London location, but today I had some time to kill before a movie at the Genesis cinema, so I managed to finally taste 3 of the excellent pastries and desserts they make. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was ecstatic. I had the maritozzo, an Incredibly good one, with fresh and delicious filling, the tiramisu, one of the best I ever had in London, and the Gianduia bun as well. All of them incredible, with extra bonus points for the maritozzo and the tiramisu. The queue was not too long and it moved very fast. The service is very nice. The atmosphere I decided not to rate because the mix of the people queuing, added to the families with children, plus the customers that are more intent to take pics rather than taste their wonderful pastries, might not be to everyone’s taste. However, what they serve, food wise, is of the highest quality, and deserves to be praised. Lastly, they also sell quality wines and delicacies such as anchovies from Cetara, a very rare find in London and the Uk. Go early to avoid the queues, and, if you like savoury food, you will also find many options that looked incredible ( I saw the mini fried pizzas- called montanarine in Campania - that really looked like they deserve a separate trip to east London ! ). Thank you guys!

Good quality bakery yes, fine ingredients. We arrived at 13h and there was almost no more choice in pastries… the hype over the creamy pastry was over made: the whipped cream was a lot and the brioche normal. The lemon custard was a too much cream. At first, our almond croissant was super dry, but thankfully the staff kindly exchanged it for some of the freshly newly baked ones and these were very warm and buttery! Don’t get me wrong: good bakery, but just not the best and missing a range of selection… Maybe italian pastries are just not my favs personally?

A group of four of us came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast, it was very busy outside with lots of people sitting in the sun enjoying their coffee and pastry. However, we were able to find a seat inside easily which was not as busy. We got a couple of pastries, including a custard croissant a chocolate croissant as well as a pizza focaccia. The focaccia was definitely the highlight for me. The bread was so soft, chewy and fresh and the topping was perfectly balanced. My husband also got a coffee which he said was the best coffee he had in our entire trip. If you’re in the area definitely stop by and grab a baked good. It is so freshly made and the quality and standard of food is impeccable!

I initially ordered another croissant and by the time i put it on the table they were bringing fresh pastries on display and I wanted to change it. They didn't change it and didn't try to help in any way so overall was not a great experience. The croissant itself was ok and the coffee decent, just not somewhere I would go back.
