About Elen's Castle Bed, Breakfast and Bar

Elen's Castle Bed, Breakfast and Bar occupies a period building with plenty of character in Betws-y-Coed, offering just 8 rooms and the feel of a proper small hotel rather than a chain stop. It makes a handy base for exploring Snowdonia, with a garden and outdoor seating to enjoy the surrounding scenery when the weather allows.

Rooms are kept spotlessly clean and represent good value, with family rooms available and extras such as drinks in the room and room service. Breakfast is a particular highlight and well worth getting up for, while the bar and restaurant provide further options, though evening dining isn't always guaranteed, so it's worth checking ahead. Staff are consistently friendly, and practical touches include free WiFi, 24 hour reception, luggage storage and an electric vehicle charge point.

Free on-site parking is a real plus in this popular area. Outside the hotel there's plenty to fill the days, with walking and cycling routes nearby, fishing, horse riding and watersports on offer, plus pubs and restaurants close at hand for evenings out. Pets are welcome too, making it an easy choice for those travelling with dogs.

A quietly welcoming hotel set amid undeniably lovely surroundings, offering the sort of basic, good‑value rooms one hopes for but doesn’t always get in this part of Snowdonia. The location works well for exploring both the northern and southern reaches of the park, and the ample free parking right outside is a small but appreciated mercy. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and made us feel at home, and while the room itself was simple, it was spotless — which counts for a great deal. Breakfast was very good, too, and served with a level of calm efficiency that made for a rather civilised start to the day. There’s no evening dining on-site, but the nearby pub — a short stroll away — more than filled the gap with hearty food. In truth, it all suited the place rather well. All the essentials were provided, nothing felt amiss, and the stay delivered exactly what it promised. We’d happily return.

My wife booked the hotel as a treat It boasts a great restaurant Two days before our trip and after payment being taken we find out restaurant closed On arrival we are greeted by the gentleman host nice and friendly Unlike his wife not friendly and non welcoming and rude We are shown our room compact The shower and toilet are no bigger than a under stairs cupboard Generally the hotel is tried First night the room is unbearably hot with a small window no air Not the host fault So the next day I ask the host (wife) if she had a fan I get an abrupt No then follows it up with it won’t be as hot tonight I have stayed in hotels all over the uk and world She qualified as the worst host of them all

Do not do not do food in evening although advertising need to update Webb page as was expecting to buy food there. Rooms not cleaned daily or topped up with tea coffee milk bit poor we will not stay again although manager owner friendly and polite. Breakfast 8am start bit late 7 to 730 better as was hoping g to be hiking by 8 as car parking limited in Snowdonia

Lovely and cosy hotel, spent 3 nights there, room was lovely and clean, beautiful view to wake up to. Owners were very friendly and provided what we required. All information we required was readily available. Location was relatively quiet and perfect for relaxing and sight seeing. Parking was very accessible, this whole experience did not disappoint. Deserves the 5 stars. Thank you!!
