About The Fox Inn
Walk into a room at The Fox Inn and you get the essentials done properly: an en-suite bathroom, free WiFi, and drinks available in the room, all set within a traditional pub above the bar rather than a chain-hotel corridor. It's a simple, comfortable base rather than a luxury stay, but that suits its Bicester setting and the free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.
Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, serving hearty sandwiches alongside specials such as mushroom stroganoff and sea bass, at prices that don't sting. The fireplace gives the bar a proper pub atmosphere on colder evenings, and staff are attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden for warmer days plus 24-hour reception for late arrivals.
The Fox Inn sits within easy reach of Bicester Village and other local attractions, and the wider area offers walking routes, fishing, golf, and further pubs and restaurants nearby for those who fancy a change of scene. It's a straightforward, well-run inn rather than a destination in itself, and does that job reliably.

Edit in response to reply from the business: You either ignored or missed the point of my review. Your chef was *not* professional when she spoke to us, she was exceptionally rude. No reply would have been preferable to a cut and paste non-apology which doesn't address the actual issue. ----- Not a good experience. We were told they were too busy to take food orders from walk-ins; it was quiet when we arrived, but we figured, fine, it's going to pick up. We sat with drinks for a good half hour and the pub stayed quiet; staff were out chatting with other tables, and it just didn't seem much busier. We asked a waiter (who it turned out was actually one of the chefs) who had just finished a lengthy chat with another table and playing with their dog (as you do when you're rushed off your feet...) if it was definitely reservations only and she was *incredibly* rude in response. The way she spoke to us was condescending and very unprofessional. Fine that the kitchen wasn't taking orders, that wasn't the issue; the way we were spoken to was. Don't recommend.

Terrific little pub in a beautiful village. Strikes the right balance between being a good locals pub whilst offering food that's good enough to make a detour for. We only popped in for a sandwich lunch; they were delicious, properly full of good ingredients. There's a good range of drinks (though no low / zero beer on draught yet (bottles etc only)) and the landlord is a lovely, chatty guy. Will go again. Thank you.

The Fox Inn restaurant. I visited the Fox Inn with my in laws, husband and two children (4yrs & 7yrs) at the end of January. I had pre-booked a time slot knowing we would go for a local walk pre lunch to the souldern viaduct. The pub itself was very well maintained with country charm and locals that welcome you with a smile. Despite the pub being small, it felt very cosy and yet we had all the privacy we needed to enjoyed a birthday meal out. The fire was lit, keeping the pub warm and adding to the quaint country charm. The food was a 10/10 - great variety of food, perfectly presented, warm and arrived in good time. It was refreshing too, that when taking our food order the chap asked whether we wanted the children's food to arrive first. Little touches like this make the restaurant stand out head and shoulders above others. It allowed us all to finish our meal around the same time and have time to enjoy desserts together. Making a family meal out much more enjoyable. The chap serving was attentive to offering additional drinks, clearing plates promptly but did not came across as lingering and intrusive. Excellent service. The cost was most certainly reasonable, and we will look forward to returning again soon.

Lovely lunch reasonably priced. Family of three, young daughter, arrived bang on 14:00, kitchen just closed - go on go the extra yard sandwiches? Ice cream? It's not too much effort.

Diners like this pub's delicious food, including hearty sandwiches and specials like mushroom stroganoff and sea bass. They also highlight the friendly and attentive staff, who provide excellent service. Guests mention the cozy, charming atmosphere, especially with the fireplace lit, and appreciate the reasonable prices.
