For a proper hotel stay, most people base themselves in Ashford, six miles or so away, which has a good spread of chain and independent hotels along with fast rail links to London and the coast. Ashford also makes a sensible hub for exploring the wider Romney Marsh area, its scattered medieval churches, and the coast around Hythe, Dymchurch and Rye, with Bilsington and its Priory ruins and obelisk making an easy half-day detour rather than the main event.

Anyone drawn to the historic side of the village should note that Bilsington Priory itself is a private estate, now used mainly for weddings and events, so it is not a conventional hotel, though its grounds and setting give a sense of why the site was chosen by Augustinian canons in the thirteenth century. Book accommodation with this context in mind, treating Bilsington as a rewarding stop on a Romney Marsh itinerary rather than a self-contained holiday base.
