Another very interesting look into the working conditions of yesteryear. When built this manufactory was state of the art for the production of coffin furniture. This expanded into all the necessary items needed for funerals such as shrouds and embalmers tools. The premises you see are exactly as they were left when abandoned in the late 1990s. Our guide, Cornelius, was very knowledgeable having worked in the industry. He gave us a good idea through practical demonstrations, of how the machinery worked as well as some tales of the people who worked there. There are strep stairs but a lift has been installed. We went into Birmingham by train so check parking. There are toilets and a coffee shop on site plus a small gift shop. The tour took about 1.5 hours.

A truly fascinating place to visit and thoroughly absorbing. A guided tour is definitely the best way to see this place and its rich history . You get a sense of the horrific working conditions people had to endure . This time capsule is really outstanding 👏 a good way of looking into Birmingham history. Highly recommend and it's a bonus if you get Mark as your tour guide

One of the best museums I’ve been to in a long time. Passionate and knowledgable staff, nice balance of interaction and observation and a fascinating slice of the history of an very niche craft! Not at all macabre, lots of humour. So interesting.
