About Bishops Lydeard Caravan and Camping Site
If you like to arrive in style, this is certainly a place where you can do just that. Bishops Lydeard Caravan and Camping Site sits in the grounds of 18th-century Greenway House, now a family-run smallholding where ducks, geese and chickens potter about. Pitches spread across two acres of protected woodland just on the village edge, with the West Somerset Railway station a five-minute stroll away – perfect for steam train enthusiasts looking to ride the rails.
Facilities are straightforward: well-maintained pitches, clean portable toilets, warm showers stocked with complimentary products, washing-up sinks and ice pack freezing. Barbecues are welcome. The peaceful atmosphere and friendly welcome make for a relaxing stay, though the simplicity won't suit those after more elaborate campsite amenities.
There's plenty for walkers, cyclists and four-legged friends in the surrounding lanes and fields, plus two good pubs and a microbrewery within easy walking distance. Access is straightforward via the A358, making this a splendid rural base for exploring the Quantocks and West Somerset coast.

What visitors say
This is a beautiful campsite and we very much enjoyed our 3 night stay. Karen and Simon are friendly and welcoming hosts. They keep the toilet and shower facilities very clean and have the added touch of shower and hair products available. There is also a washing up area available. The site is very peaceful on the edge of Bishops Lydeard village. The pitches are a good size and well kept and there is woodland around the edge of the site. We also loved watching the geese roaming around the paddock and the chickens that wandered around the site. A short walk takes you to the West Somerset Railway where you are able to board a steam train to Minehead or get off at one of the numerous stations between. The Quantock Brewery tap room is next to the station and definitely worth a visit. There are also a couple of pubs in the village which do food. On our final night, even though there were more campers, it was still very quiet and peaceful. We would definitely love to go back as we came away feeling very relaxed. Thank you so much Karen and Simon!

A fantastic long weekend on the camp site. A well organised and maintained site with warm showers and clean toilets. The site has pitches with and without electrical hook-ups and welcomes caravans, tourers and tents. Vehicles can be parked adjacent to your pitch too. The site is sheltered by established trees to the North and East. Pitches are relatively flat with a gentle roll towards the North end of the site. Ground is firm and would recommend a mallet to help tent pegs go 'home'. Location is fantastic, a 7 minute walk to the West Somerset Railway station, 10 minutes to the Brewery and about 12 minutes to the bus stop where regular busses to Taunton and to Minehead pass through. Site is typically quiet with negligible Road noise and no industry to upset the peace. Great views and helpful and friendly owners. Will definitely be back.

What a little gem. We decided on an impromptu break away over a bank holiday! Lucky for us, 6 other sites were fully booked. Very friendly family-run site / smallholding with chickens and geese. Karen, the owner, was super friendly. We were able to choose our own spot (no EHU) - not an issue for x2 nights. Showers were great with free products to use, same with dish washing area (hot water). Loos always clean. Literally a 5/6 minute walk to the West Somerset Railway and Quantock Brewery. Live music and food on both nights of our stay. Took a train ride to Dunster. Diesel there and Steam back. Brilliant time ! Highly recommend this site.

Lovely night's stay. Seems that there have been many improvements to facilities since the negative reviews on here. There is now a toilet trailer, with four ladies cubicles and urinal and cubicle for men. Four showers, with a sign welcoming you to use their eco friendly products. Warm water in washing up area, and even liquid provided. Lovely relatively flat camping field , with or without electric. Grass cut quite short. Really friendly welcome from owner and her geese and chickens before entering the camping field. Easy walk into the village for brewery, pubs and food. Will definitely stay again.
