What diners say
Easily one of our favorite meals in London! Honestly, this place is awesome. The architecture inside is super cool and worth a visit just to look around, but the food completely stole the show. We got the fish and chips (the batter was perfectly crispy, not greasy at all) and the steak meat pie, which was so rich and flavorful. We paired everything with a side salad and a local beer, and it ended up being one of the absolute best meals of our entire trip. Huge shoutout to Jamie, our waiter. He was incredibly friendly and helpful with the beer selection. If you’re looking for a legit, classic British pub experience with top-tier food, you have to hit this spot. We’d come back in a heartbeat!

Here 2/12/26 for dinner and it was wonderful. The place is so pretty and don’t be confused this place serves great food and drinks in a historical building. We had bangers and mash, large fish n chips and steak and ale pie. We enjoyed them all and the service was professional and interactive. They have a large cocktail menu and some good beers too! Great porn star martini and wonderful Nicholson gin and tonics. This is a must stop

We had a lovely lunch at The Blackfriar. The service was friendly, welcoming and efficient from start to finish, and our food arrived surprisingly quickly despite how busy it was. We ordered the salmon, steak pie and chicken pie, and all three dishes were fresh, well prepared and full of flavour. The beautiful Art Nouveau interior makes it a unique place to eat and really adds to the experience. The only reason for four rather than five stars is that, while everything was very good, it didn’t quite feel exceptional. We’d happily return and would recommend it for a traditional London pub meal.

An excellent place to experience a truly authentic British pub. The interior is absolutely stunning, with beautiful copper reliefs telling the story of the medieval Blackfriars monastery that once stood on this site. The food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and happy to recommend a beer based on your preferences. Considering you're in central London, the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Highly recommended!
