The Charlesworth

We had a wonderful stay at The Charlesworth. Wendy and Brian were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. The guest house was very clean, peaceful and exceptionally well maintained. Our room had everything we needed and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We especially loved that the property is both family friendly and dog friendly, which made our trip even more enjoyable. The value for money was excellent and we would happily stay here again. We highly recommend The Charlesworth to anyone visiting Bournemouth.

It is a budget hotel, and prices in Bournemouth triple or quadruple in high season (yes really), so once you manage expectations it's a great experience. You cannot actually hear the door bell from the outside, but they are coming. Parking was no issue, and the £5/night is actually reasonable for the area, and parking is actually reserved per room so guaranteed, unlike other establishments. Exceptionally friendly and patient person, made me feel really welcome. Shower was lovely, hot enough with great pressure, the oil heater was good enough in winter and the room, including bathroom was clean and well maintained. Maybe some resealing of the corners and a small amount of limecale removal could have been done, and repaint of the table, but not a huge issue. It is an old style hotel and no lift, but you can request a low floor if available. The sound travels a little bit. Plentiful hot drinks, including hot chocolate. The towels are thick and large but they don't dry very well for some reason. Really good location for BM town and beach. I'm happy with everything, considering the price paid.

I booked this hotel for my daughter, and she was very happy with the cozy room. Mrs. Wendy and Mr. Brian were also exceptionally warm and friendly ❤️. The room was very clean, and the hotel provided hot chocolate and cookies. The location is excellent, with many restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and the beach is just minutes away. I highly recommend this hotel.

Whatever you do if you’re a person of colour or someone ethnic please don’t stay here. The owner Brian is a horrible racist who kicked me and my bother out of the hotel and even said it’s due to the way we look and later claimed if we tried doing anything to the hotel he’ll “make us regret it” genuinely appalled by the standard of service. I’m a uni student who came here for the weekend with my brother and wasn’t even given a refund for not staying the night. I repeat do not stay here and I hope Brian has it in his heart to stop discriminating. ⛔️⛔️
