What visitors say
As Peaky Blinders fans, we loved Calke Abbey but it wasn't only that. It was the chance to see a grandiose house and how it decayed throughout the years. An awful but also captivating array of objects to see and the fantastic tunnels a must!

After visiting Calke for the 1st time it's definitely one of our favourite National Trust locations. The whole estate is 1st class. Easy access and parking and a decent cafe/restaurant to sample before exploring the trails, home and gardens. The staff and volunteers were all so friendly and manage the place superbly. Very dog friendly too and hope to return in the near future to explore more of the area.

Lots to see of interest certainly, especially with it being only partly restored so you see it's history when at its height and in decline. I found it tranquil and calming in the grounds but need to go again to do the church and parkland. Maybe an autumn trip for a glimpse of the rut?

Great place. Massive grounds with lots of walks to follow. The house is interesting due to how it has been left in a "decayed " state. It is a big building with only a small amount of rooms accessible to the public (unfortunately). Stables and a farm yard area to look round, including a separate café and a restaurant... Walled gardens over near to the small church also looked after as part of the estate. Deer are visible in some fields near the house. You can see the reservoir, but it didn't appear you could get right up to it, though. All volunteers were friendly and approachable. Carpark is already large, but looks like they are making it even bigger.

Visitors say this historic house offers a unique experience, preserved in a state of gentle decline with fascinating collections and tunnels to explore. They also highlight the extensive and beautiful grounds, perfect for long walks, and mention the friendly, knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Guests appreciate the well-appointed cafes, clean facilities, and ample parking.
