All 119 rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and in-room drinks, with family and accessible options available across the hotel's five floors, and a lift on hand for easy access.
Beyond the room, the hotel runs a restaurant and bar serving food that stands out even by hotel standards, particularly the breakfast spread and steakhouse dishes. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, though service at busier times can be a little slow. A gym, meeting rooms and business facilities round out the practical side, along with room service and laundry service for longer stays.
Free on-site parking makes Mercure Bridgwater an easy base for exploring the surrounding area, with the Quantock Hills National Landscape and the M5 both within reach, plus pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby and a golf course close by for those wanting to fill an afternoon.
What guests say
Stayed here for 3 nights as was visiting the local area. Check in was quick and easy, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Went up to our room at 4pm, only to find it hadn't been cleaned. The bed was a mess, towels on the bathroom floor, and Costa Coffee cups around the room. Went back down to Reception, where needless to say they were horrified, and quickly gave us another room. Then went up to the new room and unpacked. However then discovered that the television didn't work. Called down to Reception, and one of the staff members came up and tried to fix it. She couldn't, so then the Restaurant manager came up and had a look. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big issue, but being that it was a 3 nights stay, expected a TV that worked. So at 9:30pm, repacked everything, and then got moved to another room. Fortunately the 3rd room was absolutely fine, and enjoyed the rest of our stay. The hotel is in a good location, with a supermarket just a couple of minutes walk away, and Bridgwater town centre only 5 mins walk away. I can't fault the staff on Reception, a credit to the hotel.

Recommended. A professionally run hotel in a town location. Stayed here for one night in April 26. We booked a room with a balcony which was well equipped and clean if a little compact. The Privilege rooms next to us looked bigger so might be worth the additional cost. The balcony allowed us to get out in the relatively fresh air and watch the world go by. We ate at the bar rather than the posh main restaurant and the burgers we ordered were excellent and great value. The service was spot on especially the man behind the bar on the night we stayed. There was a little street noise but really only the occasional idiotic noisy car driver. We would definitely stay again if in the area. If you are a bird fanatic we saw many birds from the balcony including a Tawny Owl and a Peregrine Falcon

Hotel was well positioned neat the centre of town with plenty of onsite parking although having to pay for parking was not great - £9.50 per night. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff on hand to help. Facilities were good and the food from the bar snack menu was delicious and reasonably priced. Only let down was the rooms were not cleaned each day and despite providing bottles of water in the fridges that should have been topped up each day I had to go down to reception to get the bottles filled up. Overall an enjoyable stay and would stay again in the future.

Last minute booking with Secret Escapes. We wanted somewhere central to visit some National Trust properties and this looked perfect. The hotel did not disappoint. The welcome at check in was friendly and helpful. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and a huge, comfortable bed. The shower was amazing with a choice of good quality shower gels and shampoo products. We had a drinks voucher which was not just for a pre made cocktail, but any drink at the bar. We then enjoyed a 3 course dinner. It was faultless. The staff were absolutely lovely and made us all feel very welcome. The standard of food was excellent. A really good dining experience. After an excellent night's,sleep, we had a good breakfast with both continental and full English. Good coffee and hot chocolate. The Receptionist at checkout was wanting to make sure we were all happy, which we were. Definitely use this again. Thank you.
