A Brighton hotel on Lower Rock Gardens with en-suite rooms near the pier, some offering sea views over the seafront.

About The Willows

Rooms at The Willows come with en-suite bathrooms and in-room drinks, and the better ones look straight out over the pier and seafront. Family rooms are available for those travelling with children, and each room offers free WiFi as standard. It's worth knowing that some rooms are on the smaller side and can feel a little tired, so it's worth asking about room size and outlook when booking.

The hotel sits on Lower Rock Gardens in Brighton, within reach of the Royal Pavilion and the pier itself. Staff are on hand around the clock at 24 hour reception, and there's luggage storage for those arriving early or leaving late. Parking is available on site, which is a useful bonus in this part of town.

Beyond the doors, guests can find pubs, bars, restaurants and other eateries close by, along with entertainment venues. Walking and cycling routes lead out from the area, and golf and fishing are both within reach for those wanting to venture further afield.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. The whole experience was the most disgusting thing I cant even put it into words. The staff are SO rude, extremely patronising. Our room, expensive, was tiny, whole room covered in dust, blood stains everywhere, poo stain on the wall above my bed. Bodily fluids all over the sheets, the floors were so sticky, bed bugs in the beds, we were bitten to death. Walls incredibly thin, was awake all night by screaming. The kettle was filled with URINE! The whole hotel absolutely STANK and could hardly breathe. Couldn’t lock our bedroom door nor the bathroom as locks had been busted. Black mould everywhere. Please do not support this HORRIBLE place, it needs shutting down!!!!

If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. Our experience at this hotel raised several serious concerns regarding both professionalism and guest safety also I would like to add to that we are both young girls. From the moment we arrived, the hotel appeared poorly maintained, outdated, and in need of significant refurbishment. Upon checking in, the receptionist, Darry, advised us to ensure that both the hotel entrance and our room door were locked at night, stating that people, including drug dealers, people with substance abuse disorders l occupierooms as he said this happening most nights Hearing this immediately raised concerns about the security of the property. The receptionist also suggested that we join him for drinks later that evening, offering to provide beers. We found this invitation inappropriate and unprofessional. As we arrived before check-in, we asked whether we could leave our luggage at reception while we attended a concert. Rather than storing our belongings in a secure luggage area, the receptionist took us to his personal room and instructed us to leave our bags there. We considered this highly unprofessional and inappropriate. At approximately 2:20 a.m., while we were away from the hotel, the receptionist began sending us messages asking where we were and when we would be returning. When we did not respond, he proceeded to call us and send further messages. We did not believe this level of personal contact was appropriate and, as a result, no longer felt comfortable returning to stay overnight. We returned to the hotel at approximately 5:55 am to charge our phones, collect our belongings, and get changed before travelling home. We had previously been told that our luggage would be placed in our room; however, it had not been moved. After attempting to contact the receptionist, he instructed us over the phone to collect our bags from his personal room before abruptly ending the call. After retrieving our belongings and returning to our room, we locked the door. Approximately five minutes later, we witnessed the door handle being pressed down as though someone was attempting to enter the room. This further increased our concerns for our safety. We also discovered that the window in our room did not lock properly, presenting an additional security risk, as it appeared that someone could potentially gain access from outside. At approximately 5:56 a.m., the receptionist once again sent messages asking us to join him for a beer. When we did not respond, he continued sending messages followed by question marks. At this point, we decided to leave the hotel immediately, as we no longer felt safe remaining on the premises. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel. The conduct we experienced was, in our opinion, highly unprofessional, and the numerous security concerns left us feeling unsafe throughout our stay. I sincerely hope these issues are investigated to ensure future guests do not have a similar experience.

Our stay was very disappointing as the room was extremely small, dusty, and had a bad smell, with no chair, no mirror, and none of the basic amenities such as a glass, drinking water, or shower gel. The washroom was also very small and honestly very nasty to look at, and the overall cleanliness of the room was poor, with so much dust that I kept sneezing throughout the night. The heating was not under our control and seemed to be turned on only according to their schedule without caring about guests’ comfort. We arrived just one hour early and were asked to pay £10 cash, and they didn’t even provide a place to keep our luggage to avoid this extra charge. They also mentioned a sitting area to view the sea, but that place was completely broken and when we tried to sit we almost fell, which was really unsafe and disappointing. Considering we paid £95 for the room, the facilities, cleanliness, and service were far below expectations and definitely not worth the price.

I had a wonderful stay at The Willows Hotel in Brighton. The location is excellent, very close to the beach and main attractions, which made everything easily accessible. The room was comfortable and clean, and I had a peaceful stay. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit, always ready to assist with any queries. Parking was also available, which was very convenient and made our trip even more stress-free. Overall, it was a great experience, especially considering the value for money. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget-friendly stay in Brighton and would happily stay here again.
