About Housedean Farm Campsite
Housedean Farm sits just off the A27 between Brighton and Lewes, a working arable and livestock farm inside the South Downs National Park that has welcomed campers for more than sixty years. The real draw is location: the site lies directly on the South Downs Way, so walkers can drop straight in at day's end, and a bus stop at the farm entrance runs frequent services into Brighton and Lewes, making a car optional and a pint in town easy.
About 25 unmarked grass pitches spread across sloping fields with long views over the Downs, deliberately kept low in number so there's room to spread out even in August. A handful of wooden pods and a shepherd's hut offer shelter for non-tenters. Shower and toilet facilities are modern but basic, electric hook-up is available, and free fire pits set the tone for evenings. There's a small shop and play area, though wifi isn't provided and some visitors note the facilities can feel a touch tired in places.
The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly rather than regimented—dogs are welcome, pitches are generously spaced, and the farm keeps things quietly informal. Ditchling Beacon is five miles along the ridge, Devil's Dyke around ten. Book early for summer weekends and Brighton Pride, when the site fills weeks ahead.

A very hilly site immediately on the hilly South Downs way. Excellent facilities, outside shower cubicles (love them!),clean Lavatories. washing up facilities, communal fridge and freezer, phone charging and even an adaptor for our European visitors. Coffe and snack bar. Well done Housedean. Bust Main road can.be heard from.some pitches, but hey, you cant have everything , beautiful views of the downs.

Lovely campsite on The South Downs Way. Good clean facilities and camping huts if required. A small shop serving good coffee and a basic food selection and alcohol. The only thing to flag about the site is The A27. If you want total silence this won’t be the site for you. That said it didn’t disturb our sleep and we were in tents.

Excellent showers/toilets/wash area and nice small shop. Perfect location for SDW. Only downside was proximity to road which was noisy until late, earplugs solved that. Would definitely stay again

A fantastic campsite with stunning views, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, and the added treat of delicious coffee and pastries in the morning. Perfect location to go on long walks on the South Downs or get a short bus ride into Brighton. Couldn’t recommend it more highly!
