Swannington Manor – The Lodge is a Grade II listed cottage built from character and age, standing as a detached property within reach of Norwich's medieval streets. The building itself carries that sense of permanence and craft that comes with listed status, though inside it functions as a straightforward family base. Two bedrooms sleep four: one has a day bed and pull-out single, the other a kingsize (accessed through the first bedroom). Downstairs, the living room opens onto a garden through patio doors, and there's a separate dining room with a woodburner. The kitchen has an electric range, and a shower room completes the ground floor.
Essentials like bed linen, towels and wi-fi are provided, along with initial logs for the fire. You'll have garden furniture and a gas barbecue outside, parking for one car on site, and a bike store. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. The cottage doesn't allow smoking indoors.
Norwich itself is close enough for day visits – the castle, markets and independent shops in the Lanes are all there. Wroxham, the gateway to the Norfolk Broads, is the next draw if you want boats and waterside walks. The coast is within thirty minutes by car, and BeWILDerwood sits between them if you're travelling with children.
