About Wensum Valley Hotel Golf and Country Club
Wensum Valley Hotel Golf and Country Club puts a good breakfast at the heart of a stay, with a buffet spread that regulars rate highly alongside a restaurant menu that includes a lasagna worth ordering twice. There's a bar for a drink after a round, room service and packed lunches for early starts, and kids' meals for families eating together.
Rooms are en-suite, with family rooms available and drinks provided, though it's fair to say some have felt a little tired underfoot rather than freshly kept. What guests consistently praise is the staff, who are friendly and helpful, and the sense that the hotel offers good value for what's included.
Set on Beech Avenue in Norwich, the property's main draw is its two golf courses, well maintained and right on site, alongside a gym, spa and sauna, and a games room for downtime. There's also a garden, free on-site parking, and space for weddings and meetings, with fishing, pubs and restaurants all nearby for those who venture off the course.

What guests say
The room was surprisingly large with a lovely comfortable bed and big, clean shower. The summer was particularly hot but the provided fan cooled the room down overnight wonderfully. Staff were very helpful and friendly as well. Would have appreciated a larger continental breakfast selection but the hot items were good. Lots of parking available. Paid a bit of a premium due to the last minute booking, but enjoyed our stay regardless, and wished we got to experience more of the grounds as well as the pool!

This was a last minute booking as we wanted to explore the beaches and the roar kids theme park nearby - fantastic location for what we needed. Its a very big hotel with a golf course and a driving range and we had booked the family room which was very big! Enough to sleep a group of 5! Rooms were clean and had everything we needed -ample towels, beds, fans for the heat, soap and shampoo etc. The staff were great - all very welcoming and kind. Will definitely be staying here again and I would recommend.

Not quite as terrible as some of the other reviews mention. We had a basic but very clean room and very modern bathrooms, and the shower was also amazing. The reception staff were very friendly and kind. These are the positives. On the downside, the stairwell that led up to our room was covered in layers of dust, the foyer looked dated and those are the first impressions that you get, so I think that can be cleaned up a lot more. Even despite us staying here during a heatwave, we were given fans in every room, and ultimately we had a very comfortable stay. It was also very convenient for the Norfolk showground. We got access, so overall it was a good stay.

Went for a golf society trip. Courses are great but dry obviously not the fault of the hotel. The society booked buggies but there were not enough available which left people with cart bags carrying for 3 rounds in 28 degree heat, not acceptable! The rooms are not great very tired and no air con so extremely hot in the noght but clean. Now the evening meals. Absolutely rank. Our second night barely half the society ate the buffet. The service staff are rude and everyone else in the place was prioritised over us. Constant delays. The lunch menu/bar food is ok so the evening meal should be good but no effort is made. Over all nice courses shame about the staff, organisation, rooms and most importantly food.
