About The Gorfanc Hideaway
Tucked into the Mid-Wales countryside near Caersws, The Gorfanc Hideaway offers genuinely wild and simple camping where the focus is on disconnecting and soaking up the rural peace. Campfires are positively encouraged, and with no WiFi on site, evenings are spent gathered around the flames under dark Powys skies. Dogs are welcome, making it an easy choice for families who want to bring everyone along.
Facilities are deliberately pared back – showers, toilets and drinking water cover the essentials – but that's part of the appeal for campers seeking an escape from over-manicured sites. Open year-round, it suits hardier souls happy to trade creature comforts for a proper sense of seclusion in the heart of Mid-Wales.

What visitors say
Idyllic peaceful little place with superb views. The hideaway felt like a home from home and the bed was so comfortable I've had the best couple of nights sleep in a long time aided by the beautiful nature walks (cader Idris one day and up to Carno wind farm and back into Carno village before heading back to the hideaway the next day) Lovely homemade jam, bread and honey and fresh hens eggs are available to purchase. The owners are really lovely people who make you feel very welcome. Looking forward to returning soon

Perfect for a long weekend away or even longer. Everything you need is on hand (minus the electricity 😉). Toilet and wash room is a short walk away. Hosts were very polite and friendly, making sure if we needed anything to just ask. Local shop is a 25 minute away. Space to park a car. Views were good plus no night pollution so plenty of stars to see (clouds permitting). Would highly recommend to first time campers. Thoroughly enjoyed thank you!

We have just come back from spending 5 days here camping. I do an don't want to write a review because I want people to know how good this place is but I also don't want people to know so it my little secret. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners Pippa and Rob with a warm welcome. We had the pick of the hidden away campsites as we were the only people camping. All of the 6 pitches are stunning and out of sight of the others. Our hosts couldn't do enough and always happy to help. We will be back here again. Thank you so much for having us, Dave, Lizz & Chloe

We had an absolutely magical weekend camping at the gorfanc hideaway, every pitch is like its own little slice of nature. Pippa and Rob were very welcoming, and I definitely recommend trying the eggs and homemade jam. Already looking forward to camping here again! 🏕️
