Blaen Y Cwm is a stone cottage on a working farm in Powys, completely off-grid and powered by solar panels. You step into a living room with a wood burner and countryside views, then through to a kitchen equipped with a gas hob and Rayburn cooker that provides warmth and hot water. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles—and a bathroom with a bath. The property sleeps four and comes with bed linen and towels.
Outside is an enclosed garden with patio and furniture, plus a wood-fired hot tub that doubles as a plunge pool. You have private parking for two cars and access to 400 acres of the owners' land for walking and exploring. The thick stone walls keep the cottage cool in summer; in winter, the Rayburn heats the kitchen, the wood burner warms the living room, and heavy duvets are provided in the bedrooms. Solar power does have limitations on darker winter days, so the owners supply lamps if needed. The cottage has natural spring water and quirky period features including slightly uneven floors.
This suits families, couples and holiday makers looking for genuine seclusion rather than a manicured rural retreat. The nearest landmark is Wallbank A D & G R. No smoking is permitted.
