Strathyre Cabins

We had booked a 4 night stay over Easter, our first ever Forest Holidays experience, and what a wonderful one too. We have holidayed a lot across Scotland in cabins and other self-catering and agritourism style accommodation. The location is great as a short drive from Callander, and only 1 1/2 hour from Edinburgh where we left. The style of accommodation was perfect. We booked late,so got an accessible cabin. This actually worked out perfectly with drying clothes from swims in the Loch and using the hot tub. The cabins are well equipped, with just a couple of suggestions below. Having the cafe and restaurant onsite also worked well and the staff was really welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. There are lots of good local walks and cycle routes,so would be ideal for anyone considering bringing bikes and even paddle boards or kayaking on the Loch. We drove to climb Ben A'an, a local hill only 20 min away and a good 2-3 hrs walk with the kids. We will definitely be back and somewhere we would highly recommend to our friends and family, as a perfect introduction to outdoor lifestyle and holidays, even on rainy days. Improvements / Suggestions; - Larger entrance mats or separate shoe or wellies mats / section - Coat hooks in rooms or on doors - Pots or pan heat protection mats

We have stayed with Forest Holidays 10 times now, but Strathyre was our first Scottish one! 26 April - 1 May Set in a beautiful area by the loch we was very fortunate to even witness a sea eagle flying around above our cabin! We also got super lucky with the beautiful weather this week. We have had a fantastic time, we arrived quite late due to site seeing and staff gave us a call just to check we were okay and still arriving which was a lovely gesture. We had no issues what so ever during our stay, Chris who taught us Axe throwing was fantastic and really highlighted how lovely the staff are here. You really do have friendly and lovely staff. We have come to the conclusion that all sites we have stayed at, this is our now favourite. The breakfast was delicious and really gave a sense of Scottish cuisine! Square sausages for the win! We are booking to come back in October and we can’t wait to see the autumnal colors! Thank you Strathyre!

We stayed at Forest Holidays Strathyre from the 13th to the 16th of February and honestly couldn’t fault a single thing. Our cabin was absolutely spotless, spacious, and really well laid out – it felt like a proper home away from home. The staff on site were exceptional: super friendly, professional, helpful, and always happy to chat or offer advice. You can tell they genuinely care about the guests and the place itself. The setting is just stunning, surrounded by beautiful woodland and lochs – perfect if you love being outdoors. It’s also incredibly dog-friendly, which made the break even better for us as a family. The wee quiz night on Saturday was a lovely touch and such good fun — small, friendly, and a great way to meet others staying there. It’s a smaller site which we actually loved — peaceful, welcoming, and not overcrowded at all. We were lucky with the weather too: sunshine, snow, then sunshine again, which made the scenery even more magical. All in all, a truly relaxing, memorable break and easily a five-star experience for our family. We’ll definitely be back!

Nice location for a stop when walking in this scenic area, coffee is excellent too. However, the café is unfortunately full of dogs, which makes for an unpleasant stop particularly if have allergies to dogs or just don't want to listen to them whining. People with dogs should be made to use the external sitting area or chain their dogs at the door.
