About Hotel du Vin & Bistro Cambridge
Hotel du Vin took over a row of Grade II listed buildings at 15-19 Trumpington Street, parts of which date back to medieval times, and opened here in 2007 after a thorough restoration. The address is a good one - the Fitzwilliam Museum is a minute's walk south, the Mill Lane punt station a minute west, and King's Parade three minutes north - and the buildings themselves give the hotel a slightly rambling, staircase-heavy character that suits the city.
The 41 rooms and suites are individually designed and named after wines and vineyards, in keeping with the group's habit. Custom-made beds with Egyptian cotton linen are standard, as are well-appointed bathrooms with either a monsoon shower or a roll-top bath, and the better rooms have exposed beams or original fireplaces. Reclaimed dark-stained floorboards, restored fireplaces and a good deal of art run through the public rooms, which include a bar, a snug and a cellar space used for tastings and private dinners.
Bistro du Vin, the ground-floor restaurant, serves French classics in a room that is warm and deliberately informal, with plenty of natural daylight during the day and candlelight in the evening. The wine list is the point of the place - long, well chosen and priced across a wide range - and the sommeliers are happy to talk it through. There is no spa or gym, and parking is limited, so most guests arrive by train and walk or take a taxi from the station a mile away. For a stay focused on the museums, the colleges and eating well, the position is close to ideal.

My family and I had an exceptional stay at Hotel du Vin Cambridge. Special thanks to Adil, who was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. We had an issue with the air conditioning, but he handled it promptly and came up with a great solution. He was also very responsive to all our requests and made sure we were well taken care of. The hotel room itself is beautiful and centrally located, with easy access to the city centre and Cambridge station. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend staying here!

We recently stayed in the pommery suite at Hotel du Vin Cambridge, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The room is beautifully decorated and perfectly balances luxury with historic charm. The spacious bathroom features a deep roll-top bath and underfloor heating – pure bliss. One of the most unique highlights was the illuminated medieval well in the room, covered with thick glass so you can see right to the bottom. Such a beautiful, unexpected feature. The outdoor terrace was another huge bonus, very spacious with a table and chairs, perfect for relaxing. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we loved the original historic touches like exposed brickwork and wooden beams. The front of house manager went above and beyond to be accommodating, and the bottle of Prosecco on ice waiting in the room was a lovely, thoughtful gesture. Breakfast was amazing too, great quality and service. Overall, a 10/10 stay. Can’t recommend this place enough!

We recently had a short 2 night stay and were blown away with the service we received. We booked the deluxe room which was lovely, very quirky retaining some of the features of what appears to be a very old building. We stayed during the heatwave in May and unfortunately had a small issue with the air conditioning which was no doubt working very hard to supply cold air to all rooms.. This was quickly resolved and we were more than satisfied with the response of the staff and in particular Deputy Manager Karolina who was lovely. She went above and beyond in ensuring that we had a lovely stay.. A big shout out to Karolina who is a credit to the Hotel and who showed how customer service should be done..Always service with a smile and very attentive.. Thank you for making our stay so special and one we will remember. The bar was also very quirky in what appeared to be in a cellar, it was lovely with some excellent cocktails.. Breakfast was also lovely.. not your normal full English.. not too much but really good quality. Discounted parking at the Graduate hotel at £30 for 24 hours was just a short stroll away.. Overall we loved the hotel and our time in Cambridge..

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel du Vin Cambridge while celebrating my parents' 30th wedding anniversary with our family, and it couldn't have been more special. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. A huge thank you to Josh and Kalpana on reception for their warm welcome, kindness, and attention to detail, they made us feel genuinely valued throughout our stay. We'd also like to thank Craig, the General Manager, for ensuring everything was perfect, and Nico in the bar for his friendly, attentive service. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully presented, and the Cinema Suite was truly unique. It was a fantastic space for our family to enjoy together and made the celebration even more memorable. The thoughtful little gestures from the team made my parents' anniversary feel incredibly special, and it was clear that everyone genuinely cared about making our celebration unforgettable. Thank you to the entire team for helping create such wonderful memories. We look forward to returning in the future!
