About The Pilgrims Hotel

Canterbury's old city is built for wandering, with the Cathedral and the River Stour both close by, and The Pilgrims Hotel sits among it on The Friars in a building dating back to the 16th century. It's a small hotel with just 14 bedrooms, each en suite and decorated in a traditional style that suits the age of the property, with drinks available in the room and a 24 hour reception for whenever you come and go.

Downstairs there's a bar and restaurant for meals without needing to head out, plus breakfast included and free WiFi throughout. Luggage storage is on hand too, useful given the hotel's position for exploring on foot.

Beyond the doors, the area offers golf and fishing nearby for those wanting to get outside, along with a good spread of pubs, restaurants and other places to eat within easy reach, and entertainment options for evenings after the sights have closed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional stay — absolutely nothing to complain about! We had such a wonderful experience here and couldn't be more impressed. The staff were incredibly attentive and thoughtful, they noticed every little detail before we even had to ask. At one point, we casually mentioned feeling hot, and within minutes a staff member had already come in and turned on the air condition for us. Such a small gesture, but it truly made us feel genuinely cared for. Service was always prompt and immediate, and the staff checked in on us with such warmth and sincerity without ever feeling intrusive. The room itself was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented, and the location is perfectly central — everything is right on your doorstep. If you're looking for a place where you'll be treated like a valued guest from the moment you arrive, look no further. We'll absolutely be coming back!

The location it's the best part of this hotel. It's located in the center of the city, where all the main attractions are. It is an old building, so expect to hear different noises ( cracks when everybody walk). I absolutely loved the bed! The continental breakfasts...alright...not so much of a choice, but OK. The staff was very lovely and helpful. Thank you!

Nice hotel with a good location in the centre of Canterbury. Parking available at nearby St Radigund parking lot which you can get validated at the hotel for a discount! Service was friendly. The room was a bit small but comfortable and the bathroom could use some improvement, the shower had very high pressure which caused water to spray pretty much everywhere in the bathroom due to the half-glass design of the shower which i can imagine would be annoying to deal with from a housekeeping perspective. The breakfast was nice and included but a simple continental selection. Please also be aware that there is not a lift at this location which can make luggage quite tricky if you happened to have a large roller bag like myself. In conclusion however I would stay here again despite room for improvement.

Well, booked deluxe room as stated it's bigger with a walk in shower only to discuss with the lovely receptionist that not all deluxe rooms have them, so no idea really what I paid extra for? To be fair it's an old building but for the price and stating it's a deluxe room, the bath enamel was damaged, cracked tiles and holes that could have easily been filled. But will say again the one staff member we saw was very polite
