About Travelodge Cardiff Whitchurch
A Toby Carvery sits right next door to Travelodge Cardiff Whitchurch, making it an easy choice for guests who want dinner sorted without moving the car. This 52-room hotel occupies a two-floor site on Tyn-y-parc Road, with free on-site parking allocated on a first-come, first-served basis once vehicles are registered at reception, and there's an electric vehicle charge point for those who need one.
Rooms are en-suite, with drinks available to buy for the room, and accessible rooms are on offer for those who need them. Pets are welcome too. It's a straightforward, no-frills setup rather than a boutique stay, and some rooms can show signs of wear or pick up noise from neighbouring guests, so it suits those prioritising convenience and price over polish.
The location gives easy reach of Cardiff city centre and the M4 motorway, useful for both business stopovers and weekend visits. Beyond the on-site carvery, there are further pubs, bars and restaurants nearby, along with a golf course and other entertainment options for guests looking to fill their time outside the hotel.

Positives: Room was clean. Shower was hot and powerful. Tea and coffee available. Car park on site. Toby Carvery next door for breakfast and Tesco express across the road. Negatives: WiFi isn't free. The paid WiFi, disconnects regularly and when it is connected it is incredibly slow. In this day and age, this is just not acceptable. No electric points next to the bed. Not everyone uses a USB charger, my laptop needs a plug. Hotel is a bit noisy with doors slamming but this didn't bother me too much. Bottom line: I wouldn't book again as the WiFi is not fit for purpose. Shame as it is a decent fair value hotel.

Great location, adjoining a Toby Carvery next to the A470 as you head into Cardiff. Despite location, hotel was reasonably quiet and provides a much cheaper alternative that a city centre Travelodge and half the price. Only a 10 minute taxi ride max. The Travelodge doesn't have a restaurant itself. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The only thing letting it down was the age of the rooms. This one hasn't been updated in a while and it shows, its looking a little tired. Having said this, everything was clean and presentable and I would give the five stars if the hotel room was more modern.

Good point is the location however the rooms are tired and the furniture dated. The shower is awful so small and the dirty mouldy shower curtain didn’t help at all. The towels were frayed. The narrow uncomfortable twin beds just bad and the duvets are too small for the bed. The curtains barely cover the windows. The kettle was stained inside and one of the milk pods was out of date. There was paint in the radiator. The banging of doors is horrendous it was really loud. The wall as are so thin I could hear everything from next door and I mean everything! The staff are not the most helpful or caring people either that’s if they’re at the reception as they leave a sign saying I’ve just popped away please call but they didn’t answer the call. Don’t bother with the toby Carvery that is rank. The smoking area is right at the reception doors that’s not nice to have to walk past and smell. I’ve stayed in many Travelodge sand this one is by far the worst, the most recent one I stayed in was London city airport the staff there and rooms are really good so why at Whitchurch is it so bad?

Stayed in a family room, 1 double 2 singles. Single beds were rather uncomfortable but manageable. Night employee who checked us in was very nice. The worst part of the stay and the reason for 2 stars is we were in a room above the lobby and front door SLAMS when it shuts. It was so loud, we could literally feel it in our room as people were going in and out until about 3 am. It was so loud and disruptive, we had a terrible sleep. Would not recommend.
