What guests say
Never in my life have I found a hotel so poorly managed as this one. I had booked for 2 consecutive nights, though in 2 separate bookings. I had added a note to my booking referring to the first booking and that I was aware that I may have to change rooms in between and that that was totally ok. Check-in was chaotic. The owner who handled it seemed very disorientated to say the least. She looked drunk. She found my booking and gave me the key. When I asked whether I had this room for 2 nights she sighed and answered quite rudely ‘yes’ like I was an idiot. Next morning I packed my bags just to be sure in case I do need to move, but left it in my room. I had breakfast and went out for the day. I got back around 5pm. My bag was still in room. The room was not cleaned (which didn’t bother me) so I thought ok I don’t need to change rooms. I was about to get in the shower when 2 other guests suddenly stood in my room with a key for the same room. They had just checked in. I joined them downstairs as I knew what had happened: I was supposed to change rooms (from a double to a single) but they forgot to tell me. The owner was in full panic mode and apologised. Both the other guests and myself were quite chilled. I offered immediately to change to the single room (as the other guest needed 2 beds) and suggested she should have the double room cleaned as that was not done. You’d think that after all this chaos and my very polite and chilled reaction she would make sure the rest of my stay is uneventful. Think again! The next morning upon check out I asked the staff member who served breakfast whether I could leave my luggage at reception till about noon. Another guest asked the same thing. The staff politely replied she would check with the owner. She knocked on her door. The owner didn’t open but asked from the other side of the door what it was about so the staff member explained what we were asking. And guess what: she said NO!! We weren’t allowed to leave our luggage at reception for 3 hours. Never in my life have I been to a hotel where this kind of service was refused or where the owner was so rude and unprofessional. Spend your money elsewhere please, she’s really not worth it.

A wonderful, comfortable and delightfully northern B&B. Adele was so friendly and welcoming. Super easy to get to from parking near the station and there is a bus stop 2 minutes from the front door that offers great connections to locations along the wall for hiking. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

We were basically thrown out and accused of not having paid ….even though we had confirmation and proof it had come out of our account…. She wanted £89 from us!!!! Threatened us with her kick boxing son and appeared, as others have stated, drunk…. Please don’t stay here until you check all reviews…. No idea how this place is generating such good reviews but we’ve now been informed this person hasn’t been here the whole time so…. Living in past glory perhaps 😏 all fire doors wedged open exclamation ‼️ Truly rude host… pick somewhere else is our advice I wouldn’t have given it ⭐️ except that I had to 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Cornerways Carlisle has gone down hill the crockery needs a good wash to get rid of all the stains. The plates need a good clean. So does the cutlery. The bedrooms are nice and clean, but it's freezing cold at night.
